Card Appearances[edit]

Hey, I noticed you've done a lot of the card appearance pages. If possible, could you present them in fashions such as: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Card_Appearances:Black_Ray_Lancer. Thanks. TheScarecrow14 (talkcontribs) 00:47, December 18, 2012 (UTC)

Or yes, you could completely ignore me... TheScarecrow14 (talkcontribs) 04:36, January 3, 2013 (UTC)
That was not what I was doing. I am revising the card appearances pages, but I try to do so by how I should go, but I change how I edit things if someone complains to me about it. Your idea is a good idea, but I am more focused on anime cards than manga cards as you can see through the pages I have been editing.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 00:27, January 1, 2014 (UTC)
Cheesedude and I agreed that the way I edited it would be the best as it is organised. 22:01, January 3, 2013 (UTC)

"Warp Beam"[edit]

From what I can roughly make out of "Warp Beam", it seems to say that you select any number of monsters you control, then send an equal number of non-Monster Cards you control to the Graveyard. (I still need someone to verify this though)--UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 05:30, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Hey, Cardsknower. Thanks very much for your fix-ups on the GX anime Featured Duels. I'm going through them much quicker now with your help. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 16:54, March 1, 2013 (UTC)

Issues with your Sandbox[edit]

"Chthonian Soldier" should not be on there. If you read it carefully, it says "your opponent takes any Battle Damage you took from that battle." "Took", as in past tense. Meaning that you already took the Battle Damage.
Also, "Stardust Dragon". That is not a Summoning condition. That is a game rule. The anime ignores the fact that you need to properly Fusion/Synchro Summon monsters in order for them to later be Special Summoned from the Graveyard. Or maybe they changed the rule in the anime, idk. Point being, the "ignoring the Summoning conditions" clause doesn't change anything. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 01:19, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

Regarding Cheesedude's Talk Page: Sometimes, there is no explanation. Kazuki Takahashi said somewhere that he didn't concentrate on stability of game rules so much as the fun of the Duel itself. It's a fool's errand to try and add "rules" for each time something odd happens. Just let it be; there is already a note stating the mistake on the Movie page. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 18:19, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Duel Monsters Images[edit]

It's really difficult to find high quality videos for the episodes now since the main source had their Dailymotion account deleted and most others are extremely poor quality and/or have subtitles covering parts of the monsters when shown full-screen. If you can find a website that shows both subs and dubs in high quality, can you let me know please? Then i'd gladly do it. TheScarecrow14 (talkcontribs) 14:50, June 16, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Video[edit]

Done images of Summoned Skull, Alligator Sword, Rocket Warrior and Little Winguard. Twin-Headed Behemoths first appearance was 108, so I can't do that until the episode is uploaded. Is there anything else? TheScarecrow14 (talkcontribs) 22:23, June 21, 2013 (UTC)

There's already an image of Illusion Faceless Mage with the Eye of Wdjat equipped. Did you mean without? TheScarecrow14 (talkcontribs) 01:41, June 22, 2013 (UTC)
Alright, done a few. It's really hard to get decent quality images of the earlier monsters (and yes, Rabid Horsemans was the best it got). I'll carry on later. TheScarecrow14 (talkcontribs) 02:19, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Card Images[edit]

Why don't you just take the images? Haha. TheScarecrow14 (talkcontribs) 17:31, July 22, 2013 (UTC)

Just print screen them and cut them to the right proportions on Windows or use screen cap if you're on a mac. TheScarecrow14 (talkcontribs) 17:40, July 22, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Effects that target monsters and Negate attacks[edit]

I'm so sorry, Cardsknower. I read your message shortly after it came in, decided I needed to think on a reply and then forgot about it all together. I only just now noticed I hadn't responded. Um, in cases like this, there's really no way know what was intended. Pre-PSCT stuff is much less clear. I'd recommend you ask UltimateKuriboh, he may be able to help. Mentioning episodes in card appearances[edit]

SALUTATIONS, CARDSKNOWER!!

I give ya a FINE-A$$ MADNESS of props for doing all these card appearances pages--you rock at not only doing such but also meticulously noting every detail, such as Duel moves in pertinence to cards and flashbacks! :j I've noticed though that with 5D's anime cards, you note the episode that the card appears in before explaining things further whereas in older animes (the original series and GX), you don't do such as often. I wonder, is there any reason for this? If not, could you try to mention the episodes beforehand all the time for every card going forward? I just think that this way, it looks more cleaner, informative and synchronized, especially since some such pages (i.e. Card Appearances:Legend of Heart) mention the episodes in some appearances but not all of them. Thanks! =j --ARCADIASSCHOLARLY 05:06, September 15, 2013 (UTC)

Just wanted to thank you for doing this as well. It's really a big help! --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 16:52, October 18, 2013 (UTC)
Staaph, yer making me blush! :3 Aw, seriously though, don't mention it, although you weren't obliged to respond to me, especially if if you were too busy. After I first messaged ya, I think a couple of hours later, as soon as I saw Card Appearances from the original second series anime's initial episodes being edited this way via the Wikia's edit history, I knew you got my message! Thanks again nevertheless. And think of it this way, after you do this last "sweep" of changing the appearances in the GX series this way (as I can see you're already reached it in less than a month,) you can finish the 5D'S cards whenver (even though you ocasionally do such here n' there) and FINALLY move on to the ZEXAL cards!! (I don't think ANY of them have been done in your finesse, albeit I tried to do such to a few of them as an unregistered user in mah early yearz! =D) --ARCADIASSCHOLARLY 13:31, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

card appearances[edit]

You mentioned to me about editing card appearances. I'm working on a project including card appearances from all scripted duels, and when I'm on a page, I try to freshen up the other parts of the page and try to format each other card appearance so that they match. I try to keep as much necessary details as possible, also including adding additional information and removing information that is otherwise a non-optional nature of the card itself that I feel is unnecessary to mention in every single card appearance, an example being Premature Burial's cost of 800 LP and how it equips itself to the special summoned monster. So could you be more specific on your issue with my editing of card appearances? Philiosophical-Psychological Informist Togekiss (talkcontribs) 07:45, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

reply[edit]

"That was back then. I should only apply that to episode 54 appearance in GX as that would explain how "Ben Kei" could attack four time in that episode. I will try to modify Premature Burial card appearance page to remove the costs. I will only mention the cost of discard or sending a card from hand or getting rid of a card on field or Graveyard if it's clear from what was shown in the Duel. I hope you agree with this. I also mention Graveyard when a monster was summoned from the Graveyard as well as Banished Zone when a monster was summoned from there, so I can prevent confusion to myself. If I don't mention it, then it could have been from the hand, deck, or Extra Deck. I also mentioned revive for monsters that are summoned from the Graveyard initially. I should probably apply that to "Monster Reborn" Card appearances only."

Yeah, in the case of Premature Burial, I think the part where it equips itself onto the monster is unnecessary because it is rarely influential, but when it is, it is important to mention. Same goes for the 800 LP cost. I think we can assume that the reader knows the nature of the card and mentioning every specific detail is unnecessary and makes the page as a whole repetitive and long to read. I strongly agree that discard costs/effects are only worth mentioning if the discarded card is seen. If a character activates Graceful Charity and it is unseen what cards are drawn and discarded, it is unnecessary to mention that three unknown cards are drawn and two unknown cards are discarded because that is the nature of Graceful Charity, but if the cards are seen, it is worth mentioning. I don't really have a problem with the word "revive" to mean summoning from the Graveyard, but I feel that saying Special Summoned is a more formal term and such should be the term used in a "professional setting." For a card such as One for One, I believe it is important to note whether the monster is summoned from the hand or deck. For Monster Reborn, I feel it is significant to state which Graveyard the monster is summoned from. For Premature Burial, there is only one location possible for target, so it is unnecessary to state which Graveyard the user summoned from or to even state it was a Graveyard summon at all. mode vs. position[edit]

I actually prefer to use Position instead of Mode since Position is the TCG/OCG terminology. However, the dubbed anime refers to it as Mode so when we document anime events, I think we should use Mode because we are doing it in respect/regards to anime documentation and thus should use their terminology. Philiosophical-Psychological Informist Togekiss (talkcontribs) 20:39, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

I'll ask an admin about it. Philiosophical-Psychological Informist Togekiss (talkcontribs) 00:28, November 21, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Brave Attack[edit]

Done! =) Blueapple128 (talkcontribs) 06:05, November 21, 2013 (UTC)

mode vs. position[edit]

I talked to User:UltimateKuriboh. He seemed to say "Position" at first but after I talked to him, he seemed to say "Mode" was fine. It was unclear, but I think he favours "Mode." You can have a word with him; I haven't seen him since asking. Philiosophical-Psychological Informist Togekiss (talkcontribs) 07:58, November 25, 2013 (UTC)

RE: Mode vs Position[edit]

SALUTATIONS ONCE AGAIN, CARDSKNOWER!!

I just (lengthly) messaged Togekiss about your concerns. Haven't heard back from the user yet but I hope that the user will trust what I believe is the de facto term the Wikia uses in question, and follows suit.

I also got your notice about the "CXyz"s in question. If possible, that could make for some good trivia , but is it just me, or did you make those arguments for the "CXyz" in respect to their owners a lot more succinct than I probably could!? Just a thought but that info can be noted at anytime. Methinks for right now though, quelling the "To Mode or not to Mode?" inquiry is a lot more paramount for ya. --ARCADIASSCHOLARLY 05:02, November 27, 2013 (UTC)

edits[edit]

I always remove the episode name when citing it in card appearances, in the form [yu-gi-oh! gx/5d's/zexal - episode ###|episode #] ]. If not, it's probably because I forgot to put in the | divider. I'm not sure what you talk about about different card names. I tend to put all card appearance related notes at the top of the page under the ==yu-gi-oh!== bracket and before the ===arc===, including alternate names. Philiosophical-Psychological Informist Togekiss (talkcontribs) 06:01, December 28, 2013 (UTC)

edits[edit]

If I didn't shorten the episode citation, that would be a mistake on my part. Also, I remember noticing Absorb Spell on the Little-Winguard page. It was structured like [Spell Absorption|Absorb Spell], meaning it would show up as Absorb Spell but has a link to Spell Absorption. Since a link to Absorb Spell would be a redirect to Spell Absorption anyway, I decided to shorten it to just [Absorb Spell] since that's what should be showing up on the page anyway.
