Re:Wacky & Wild Guide: Yu-Gi-Oh!

1. Aside from being a wiki admin, I an involved in the unofficial translation process, resulting in the card names the wiki and the simulator site Dueling Network uses for cards that have not yet been officially released in English but have been in Japan. I work with YGOrganization.com on wiki-related matters and occasionally contribute and article to that site as well. I also have editing rights there, so I often proofread for them.

2. When I first got involved with the wiki, I simply wanted to correct a few things. Since then, I've grown to love YGO as a franchise all the more. I do frequent one YGO forum, solely as result of me finding info to use on the wiki there. I'm not a very...forumy person, but building a rapport with one of the fandom's primary translators did result from my being there, which led into the YGOrganization.com situation I mentioned.

3. It's a fairly unique series. Taking aside the fact that the anime is based on people playing a card game for the fate of the world, there is this: This is a card game where dinosaurs can fight knights...in space. A card game where an Egyptian God can fight a Nordic God....in the home of a Greek God. YGO is a hodgepodge of concepts and that is one of the reasons I love it. It's insane.

4. It depends entirely on what they were trying to get into. If one wants to get into the card game itself, one should not watch the anime and assume the rules are 100% the same, because they are not. In that vein, the start of the series would arguably be the worst place to start, as the rules were by no means established. If you simply want to watch the anime, I'd start at the beginning. But not everyone likes every series. Some fans love the original best, I am not one of them. Some hated ZEXAL, yet it was my favorite. Odds are, if you like anime or card games, at least one of the series will appeal to you in some fashion. They may all feature the card games, but each series is truly its own unique thing.

5. The fandom's obsession with the tomato episode. People have applied the subtitles from that episode to other, far more serious episodes, to great effect.

6. The fifth anime series, Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V, began airing in Japan last Sunday. Pendulum Summons look to be something that utterly change the face of the game, making monster-on-monster combat much more prevalent than ever before. And on that note, I believe someone has already done the aforementioned tomato subs for that episode too.
