  • This card targets 1 face-up monster in your opponent's Monster Zone.[1]
  • This card cannot be activated during the Damage Step.[1]
  • Returning the Special Summoned monster to the Deck during the End Phase of the next turn does not start a Chain.[1]

Q&A Rulings

A: If the opponent's targeted monster is in face-down Defense Position when "Fiendish Portrait" resolves, as in this scenario, you cannot Special Summon a monster with the same name from your Deck or Extra Deck, but the part of the effect that prevents you from Special Summoning monsters from the Deck or Extra Deck for the rest of the turn is still applied.[2][3]
