Card Rulings:Beast King Barbaros

OCG Rulings
- If you Tribute three monsters to Tribute Summon "Beast King Barbaros"/"Gilford the Lightning"/"Moisture Creature" etc, you cannot Set it in face-down Defense Position. It must be Tribute Summoned in face-up Attack Position. If "Light of Intervention" is active, you can Tribute three monsters to Tribute Summon it in face-up Defense Position.[1]
- If "Enemy Controller" is chained to the effect of "Beast King Barbaros", the effect of "Beast King Barbaros" still activates.[2]
- When Tributing "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" or "Beast King Barbaros" for "Fog King", you use the printed ATK of the Tributed monsters to determine the ATK of "Fog King". If you Tribute a "Beast King Barbaros" with 1900 ATK for "Fog King", then the ATK of "Fog King" is 3000.[3]
- If a monster equipped with "Double Tool C&D" attacks a "Beast King Barbaros" with 1900 ATK, then the effect of "Beast King Barbaros" is negated and it will have 3000 ATK. After the Battle Phase ends, "Beast King Barbaros" will remain at 3000 ATK.[4]
- When a "Beast King Barbaros" with 1900 ATK is affected by "Forbidden Chalice", the effect of "Beast King Barbaros" will be negated and it will have 3400 ATK: the listed 3000 plus 400 because of the effect of "Forbidden Chalice". When you stop applying the effect of "Forbidden Chalice" during the End Phase, the ATK of "Beast King Barbaros" will become 3000.[5]
- If "Beast King Barbaros" Normal Summoned without Tributes and is then is targeted by the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind", then the ATK of "Beast King Barbaros" will become 950. If "Skill Drain" is activated later, then the ATK of "Beast King Barbaros" will remain at 950, the halved value set by the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind".[6]
- If "Beast King Barbaros" or "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" is Normal Summoned without Tributes and has its ATK/DEF changed, then if it is flipped face-down by an effect like "Book of Moon", then the effect which changes its ATK/DEF is no longer applied, so "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" returns to 2800/2000. Also, if it is removed from play by "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", then the effect which changes its ATK/DEF is no longer applied as soon "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" is removed from the field, so "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" returns to 2800/2000.[7]
- Suppose "Beast King Barbaros" is Summoned without Tribute (1900 ATK), and then has its ATK halved by the effect of "Armored Bee" (to 950 ATK). If "Skill Drain" is activated during the same turn, then the ATK of "Beast King Barbaros" will remain at 950, the halved value it became by the effect of "Armored Bee".[8]
- The ATK and DEF of "[[:]]" are increased by the printed ATK and DEF of the monster which was Tributed from the field.[9]
- Example: If "[[:]]" is Summoned by Tributing a "Beast King Barbaros" which was Summoned without Tributes (1900 ATK / 1200 DEF), then the ATK of "[[:]]" becomes 3000, and the DEF becomes 1200. If you Tributed two copies of "Beast King Barbaros", then the ATK and DEF of "[[:]]" will increase by 6000 and 2400, respectively.[9]
