• Summons Drillago (1600/1000) in attack position.
• Destroys Alligator's Sword with Drillago.
• Attacks Joey directly Gil Garth.
• Joey activates Scapegoat special summoning four Sheep Tokens (0/0) in defense position.
• Gil Garth destroys a Sheep Token.

• Summons Panther Warrior (2000/1600) in attack position.
• Tributes a Sheep Token so Panther Warrior can attack.
• Destroys Gil Garth with Panther Warrior (Marik 3800).

Marik's Turn

• Activates Tribute Burial, removing Alligator Sword and Gil Garth from play to special summon Helpoemer (2000/1500)

• Summons Rocket Warrior (1500/1300) in attack position.
• Marik activates Hidden Soldier, Special Summoning Plasma Eel (500/1200), which equips itself to Panther Warrior
• Joey attacks Helpoemer with Rocket Warrior, reducing its ATK to 1500.
• Tributes a token so Panther Warrior can attack Helpoemer (Marik 3300)
• Helpoemer's effect activates, randomly discarding a card from Joey's hand at the end of each of his Battle Phases.
• Joey discards Jinzo

• Activates Question, and since Marik guessed wrong (he couldn't guess what card was at the bottom of Joey's Graveyard, because it was discarded by Helpoemer), he can Special Summon Jinzo (2400/1500) from his Graveyard
• Destroys Marik's Trap Cards
• Changes all his monsters to attack position
• Attacks Legendary Fiend with Jinzo (Marik 1900)
• As Joey sends his other monsters to attack, Marik activates Dark Wall of Wind to negate the attacks
• Helpoemer discards Foolish Burial from Joey's hand
• Plasma Eel reduces Panther Warrior's ATK by 500 (0/1600)

Marik's Turn

• Tributes Jinzo and Baby Dragon to Special Summon Lava Golem (3000/2500) on Joey's side of the field
• Sets a card

Joey's Turn

• Attacks, but Marik activates Relieve Monster, returning Plasma Eel to his hand, then Special Summons it back to his side of the field (500/1200). It can't be destroyed by battle, so it remains
• Helpoemer discards Gamble from Joey's hand
• Lava Golem inflicts 700 damage to Joey (Joey 2200) (Note: In the real game, Lava Golem inflicts 1000 damage)

Marik's Turn

• Activates Machine Duplication, Special Summoning two Plasma Eels (500/1200 each) to the field
• All three equip themselves to Joey's monsters
• Sets a card

Joey's Turn

• Activates Graceful Dice and rolls a six, raising Plasma Eel's ATK by 2500 (3000/1200). This negates the Machine Duplication's effect, destroying the other two Plasma Eels and freeing Joey's monsters
• Tributes all three of them to Summon Gilford the Lightning (2800/1400). This activates its effect, destroying Marik's monsters
• Attacks, but Marik activates Nightmare Mirror, negating the attack, inflicting 1000 damage to Joey (Joey 1200) and discarding The Winged Dragon of Ra from Marik's hand

Marik's Turn

• Activates Monster Reborn to Special Summon The Winged Dragon of Ra (?/?)
• Transforms it into Egyptian God Phoenix (0/0)
• Activates one of its effect, paying 1000 LP (Marik 1100) to destroy Gilford. This obliterates nearly all of Joey's strength, but he still stands
• Ra returns to the Graveyard

Joey's Turn

• Summons Gearfried the Iron Knight (1800/1600), but collapses before he can declare an attack and loses. Had he managed to attack in time, Marik would have been defeated, Joey would gain Ra (although it'd be completely useless to him because he doesn't have knowledge of the ancient scriptures) and he'd also advance to the final round
