- This monster's DEF is equal to the combined ATK and DEF of "Elemental HERO Clayman".
- This monster's Summoning conditions are similar to that of "Elemental HERO Neo Bubbleman" where they need to both be Summoned by Tributing a monster with the same name ("Elemental HERO Clayman", in this case, as opposed to "Elemental HERO Bubbleman" with "Neo Bubbleman"), along with "Metamorphosis"; however, while "Elemental HERO Neo Bubbleman" is Summoned in the exact same way, he is treated as an Effect Monster while "Elemental HERO Clay Guardian" is treated as a Fusion Monster.
- Theoretically, this would make "Clay Guardian" nearly unplayable in competitive Duels, as "Metamorphosis" is Forbidden in the Advanced Format.
- This would be the reason why this card is the only "Elemental HERO" that has never been released into the OCG/TCG.
