Card Rulings:The First Sarcophagus
OCG Rulings
- The activation of the card "The First Sarcophagus" can be performed at any time, except during the Damage Step.[1]
- Its effect activates during each of your opponent End Phases, and each time it resolves, place 1 card in the order of "The Second Sarcophagus" and "The Third Sarcophagus" from your hand or Deck face-up on your field. After placing, if all the cards are placed on your field, send all of them to the Graveyard and Special Summon 1 "Spirit of the Pharaoh" from your hand or Deck.[1]
- The effect "If any of these cards, including this card, leaves your field, send all of them you control to the GY, including this card" does not start a Chain Link. (It is applied even during the Damage Step.)[1]

- If you have all 3 Sarcophagi on your side of the field, the effect happens automatically; you have no choice in the matter.
- If you have multiple copies of "The First Sarcophagus", each will have its own "Second Sarcophagus" and "Third Sarcophagus". So if you have 2 of "TheFirst Sarcophagus" [sic], you will have 2 of "The Second Sarcophagus" on the field. If you Special Summon "Spirit of the Pharaoh" or if 1 of the Sarcophagi is removed from the field, all Sarcophagi cards are sent to the Graveyard.
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Spirit of the Pharaoh: "Spirit of the Pharaoh" cannot be Normal Summoned or Set, and cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of "The First Sarcophagus"...
- Spirit of the Pharaoh: If your opponent chains "Royal Decree" to the effect of "The First Sarcophagus", the effect of Special Summoning is negated and "The First Sarcophagus" is sent to the Graveyard because that is the cost.
- Spirit of the Pharaoh: If "Banisher of the Light" is in play and you activate "The First Sarcophagus", you cannot Special Summon "Spirit of the Pharaoh".
