OCG Rulings

  • "Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 2 Dinosaur-Type monsters from your Graveyard" is not an effect. It is a procedure for summoning a Special Summon Monster. (You must banish 2 Dinosaur-type monsters for this procedure. This does not start a chain.)[1]
  • You must first special summon this card by the method prescribed in its text. If it is sent to the Graveyard after being Special Summoned this way, it can be special summoned from the Graveyard by "Monster Reborn".[1]
  • "Once per turn, during either player's Main Phase: You can destroy 1 monster in your hand or field, and if you do, change all face-up monsters your opponent controls to face-down Defense Position" is a quick effect. (This effect does not target.)[1]
  • "Destroy 1 monster in your hand or field" and change all face-up monsters your opponent controls to face-down Defense Position are considered to occur simultaneously.[1]
  • "This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls, once each" is a continuous effect.[1]
  • "At the start of the Damage Step, if this card attacks a Defense Position monster: You can inflict 1000 damage to your opponent, and if you do, send that Defense Position monster to the Graveyard" is a trigger effect. It does not target.[1]
  • "Inflict 1000 damage to your opponent" and "send that Defense Position monster to the Graveyard" are considered to occur simultaneously.[1]

Q&A Rulings

  • Q: If there are no face-up monsters on my opponent’s field, can I activate the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" that destroys a monster on my field or in my hand and changes all monsters on my opponent’s field to face-down Defense Position?
A: If there are no face-up monsters on your opponent’s field, you cannot activate the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno". Also, if there are no face-up monsters on your opponent’s field when the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" resolves, the effect still destroys 1 monster on your field or in your hand, but the part of the effect that changes all face-up monsters on your opponent’s field to face-down Defense Position is not applied.[2]
  • Q: A Jurraegg Token that was Special Summoned by the effect of my "Lost World" is the only monster on my opponent’s field. In this situation, can I activate the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" that destroys a monster on my field or in my hand and changes all monsters on my opponent’s field to face-down Defense Position?
A: In this scenario, if a Token is the only card in your opponent’s Monster Zone, you cannot activate the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno".[3]
A: In this scenario, since the effect of your opponent’s "Dark Simorgh" prevents you from Setting cards, you cannot change monsters to face-down Defense Position. In this case, you cannot activate the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno".[4]
  • Q: I activate the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" that destroys 1 monster on my field or in my hand and changes all monsters on my opponent's field to face-down Defense Position. When resolving the effect, can I choose to destroy "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" itself?
A: When resolving the part of the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" that destroys 1 monster on your field or in your hand, you can choose "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" itself. Even in that case, the effect changes all monsters on your opponent's field to face-down Defense Position normally.[5]
  • Q: I activate the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" that destroys 1 monster on my field or in my hand and changes all monsters on my opponent's field to face-down Defense Position. If I choose a face-up "Megalosmasher X" on the field to destroy, but then apply the effect of "Lost World" and destroy a Dinosaur-Type monster in my hand or Deck instead, what happens?
A: In this scenario, when destroying "Megalosmasher X" on the field, the effect of "Lost World" prevents it from being destroyed and destroys a Dinosaur-Type monster in your hand or Deck instead. In that case, the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" will not change your opponent's monsters to face-down Defense Position.[6]
  • Q: I activate the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" that destroys 1 monster on my field or in my hand and changes all monsters on my opponent's field to face-down Defense Position. If my opponent chains "Book of Moon" and changes "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" to face-down Defense Position, how does its effect resolve?
A: In this scenario, the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" is applied normally. (You can also choose the face-down Defense Position "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" when applying the part of the effect that destroys 1 monster on your field or in your hand.)[7]
  • Q: While I have no cards in my hand, and "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" is the only monster on my field, I activate its effect that destroys 1 monster on my field or in my hand and changes all monsters on my opponent's field to face-down Defense Position. If my opponent chains "Raigeki Break" and destroys "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno", how does its effect resolve?
A: In this scenario, when resolving the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno", it cannot destroy a monster on your field or in your hand since there are no monsters to destroy. (The part of the effect that changes all monsters on your opponent's field to face-down Defense Position is also not applied.)[8]
  • Q: When "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" attacks a Defense Position monster, if its effect that inflicts 1000 damage to my opponent and sends that monster to the Graveyard is activated at the start of the Damage Step, is damage calculation performed for that battle?
A: When the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" resolves, the opponent's Defense Position monster will be sent to the Graveyard, so it is no longer on the field and damage calculation is not performed. (The Damage Step ends. The attack by "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" also does not become a direct attack.)[9]
A: Even if "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" attacks a Defense Position monster while the effect of "Macro Cosmos" is applying, you can activate its effect that inflicts 1000 damage to your opponent and sends the attacked monster to the Graveyard. In that case, after inflicting 1000 damage to your opponent, the opponent's monster (in this case, "Helios - The Primordial Sun") is banished instead of sent to the Graveyard.[10]
A: Even if "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" attacks a Defense Position Token, you can activate its effect that inflicts 1000 damage to your opponent and sends the attacked monster to the Graveyard. In that case, after inflicting 1000 damage to your opponent, the "Jurraegg Token" disappears instead of being sent to the Graveyard.[11]
A: Even if "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" attacks a Defense Position Pendulum Monster, you can activate its effect that inflicts 1000 damage to your opponent and sends the attacked monster to the Graveyard. In that case, after inflicting 1000 damage to your opponent, the Pendulum Monster is added to the Extra Deck face-up instead of being sent to the Graveyard. (The result is the same if the Pendulum Monster was face-down.)[12]
A: Even if "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" attacks a Defense Position "Paleozoic Opabinia", you can activate its effect that inflicts 1000 damage to your opponent and sends the attacked monster to the Graveyard. "Paleozoic Opabinia" is unaffected by monster effects, so in that case, 1000 damage is inflicted to your opponent normally, but "Paleozoic Opabinia" is not sent to the Graveyard. Afterward, damage calculation is performed normally.[13]
  • Q: During this turn, my opponent activated the effect of "Hanewata", so that they take no effect damage. In this case, when my "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" attacks an opponent's Defense Position monster and activates its effect at the start of the Damage Step, what happens?
A: In this scenario, since your opponent does not take any effect damage this turn, they will not take 1000 damage from the effect of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno". In that case, the effect does not send the opponent's Defense Position monster to the Graveyard, and damage calculation is conducted normally.[14]
A: If the effect of "Miscellaneousaurus" is applied, Dinosaur-Type monsters on your field will be unaffected by your opponent’s activated effects. In this scenario, although "The Monarchs Stormforth" was an activated card, applying its effect that allows your opponent to Tribute Summon using your monster is not an effect that starts a Chain. Therefore, even if the effect of "Miscellaneousaurus" is applying, your opponent can use the effect of "The Monarchs Stormforth" to Tribute your Dinosaur-Type monster for a Tribute Summon. (In this scenario, "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" can be Tributed for an opponent’s Tribute Summon.)[15]
A: When your opponent activates "Struggling Battle", you must choose cards on your field and banish them face-down. You must choose cards so that you have the same number of cards on your field as your opponent, but since "Miracle Jurassic Egg" cannot be banished while face-up on the field, "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" must be banished face-down.[16]
A: "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" is a Special Summon-only monster, so it must first be Special Summoned by the method written in its text, and cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck by the effect of "Petiranodon".[17]
A: "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" is a Special Summon-only monster, so it must first be Special Summoned by the method written in its text. If "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" is sent directly from the Deck to the Graveyard by the effect of "Soul-Devouring Oviraptor", it cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard.[18]
  • Q: If I have 2 copies of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" in my hand, can I Special Summon both of them with their own procedure during the same turn?
A: "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" is a Special Summon-only monster, so it must first be Special Summoned by the method written in its text. In this scenario, if there are 4 Dinosaur-Type monsters in your Graveyard, you can Special Summon 2 copies of "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" from your hand during the same turn.[19]
A: Since "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" is a monster that must first be Special Summoned by its own procedure, so it cannot be Special Summoned from your hand with the effect of "Spacetime Transcendence". Also, if "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" was sent to the Graveyard after being Special Summoned properly, you can Special Summon it from the Graveyard with card effects. (An "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" that was sent directly from the hand or Deck to the Graveyard cannot be Special Summoned with "Spacetime Transcendence".)[20]
A: In this scenario, since the effect of your opponent’s "Lost World" is applying, you cannot target the "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" on your opponent’s field, but you can target either the Juraegg Token or "Lost World". (Even if "Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King" is unaffected by Spell effects due to its own effect, the result is the same.)[21]
