* The most useful strategy to use involves "Future Fusion".
+
* You can Fusion Summon this card with "Dragon's Mirror".
:* Once 5 Dragons are put in the Graveyard, you can use "Dragon's Mirror" to banish those same Dragons to Fusion Summon another copy of this card.
+
** Fill up your Graveyard quickly by using the effects of "Future Fusion", or "Masked Dragon"/"Troop Dragon" in preparation to activate "Dragon's Mirror".
::* Once you have used "Dragon's Mirror", you can also use "Return from the Different Dimension" or "Dimension Fusion" and "Polymerization" to summon a third copy of this card.

:::* Useful monsters to target include:

::::* "The White Stone of Legend": Can allow you to add a "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your Deck to your hand.

::::* "Totem Dragon": In a full Dragon Deck, this monster can Special Summon itself from the Graveyard for the Tribute Summon of another Dragon-Type monster.  (Try to use cards that prevent "Totem Dragon" from banishing itself, like "Imperial Iron Wall", if you're looking for continuous re-use.)

::::* "Red-Eyes" monsters: "Red-Eyes Wyvern" and "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" are the top choices, as during the End Phase, "Red-Eyes Wyvern" can banish itself to Special Summon "Darkness Metal Dragon", provided you did not Normal Summon that turn.

* Assuming that your opponent does not raise his Life Points higher than 9000 while yours are lower than theirs, this card can create an OTK with "Future Fusion", "Megamorph" and "Shooting Star Bow - Ceal".
+
* Combo "D. Tribe" and/or "DNA Surgery" (declaring Dragon-Type) with "Scapegoat" to allow easy access to Fusion Materials.
:* "Scapegoat" and "United We Stand" are also recommended for a larger ATK boost.
+
** OR, you can forgo "Scapegoat" in the above combo and use your opponent's monsters instead, if you use "Super Polymerization"(Traditional Format).
:* "Royal Decree" can stop your opponent from using Traps that would otherwise wreck this combo, such as "Mirror Force", "Magic Cylinder" or "Sakuretsu Armor".
+
*** OR, you could use "D. Tribe" and/or "DNA Surgery" (declaring Dragon-Type) with "Scapegoat" and "Fusion Gate" "Field Spell Card" on the field, in order to Summon "Five-Headed Dragon" so effectively and effortlessly indeed.

* "Dragon's Mirror", while targeting multiple copies of "Masked Dragon" or "Troop Dragon", is one of the easiest ways to summon this monster.
+
* Use both "DNA Transplant" and "Mist Body" upon this card, and then, it can't be destroyed by battle at all.
:* "Vanguard of the Dragon" and "Spirit Ryu" are highly recommended for depositing Dragons into the Graveyard.

* "Scapegoat", "DNA Surgery" (while declaring Dragon) or "D. Tribe" and "Super Polymerization" can also summon this card with ease, but you may need to wait 1 turn before doing so.
+
* Use "Greater Polymerization to Fusion summon this card to grant permanent near-invulnerability and piercing effect.
:*Alternatively, you could also "Fusion Summon" this card in an excellent combination with "Fusion Gate", any Dragon-Type Monster Cards (Preferably Level 4 or below), along with both "Scapegoat" and "DNA Surgery" (In order to make all Monster Cards become Dragon-Type), on your side of the Playing Field, in order to "Fusion Summon" the "Five-Headed Dragon" most effectively and efficiently asap, without any actual need for a "Polymerization" or any other a "Fusion-Type" Spell Cards at all. Another way to utilize and exploit these cards in exactly the same combo is to keep "Fusion Gate" on the playing field, but instead substitute both "Kuriboh" and "Multiply" for any Dragon-Type Monster Cards, and then use both "Scapegoat" and "DNA Surgery" for "Dragon"-"Type" "Fusion Material Monsters" afterwards, in order to do exactly the same thing likewise.

:*Finally, with the "Fusion Gate" being active on your side of the Playing Field, you could also use "Return from the Different Dimension" or "Dimension Fusion", along with both "Card Destruction" and "Soul Release" being played at first in that precise order (that is, if and when you've got "Dragon"-"Type" "Fusion Material Monsters" beforehand, either in your "Hand", "Graveyard", or "Banished Zone" first), in order to "Fusion Summon" the "Five-Headed Dragon" most effectively and efficiently asap.

* "DNA Transplant" can change your opponents monster's attributes to something other than LIGHT or DIVINE, so that this monster cannot be destroyed by battle.
+
* Cards like "Dragon's Rage", "Big Bang Shot" or "Fairy Meteor Crush" can help this card inflict massive damage to your opponent, no matter what battle position their monsters are in.

* A Deck including "Cyberdark" monsters can use "Fusion Guard" to dump this card into the Graveyard directly from the Extra Deck, giving "Cyberdark Dragon" a massive ATK boost.
+
* In a "Gandora" Deck, use "Future Fusion" to reveal this card and send 5 Dragons, including 3 differently-named "Gandora" monsters to the Graveyard. Even if you don't summon this card, "Gigarays Gandora the Dragon of Destruction" will be able to apply its third effect.
** You can also splash "Dragunity" Dragon-Type monsters, which can be equipped to "Cyberdark" monsters from the hand using "Dragon Mastery".

* Use "King Dragun" or "Lord of D." to give this card protection against Spells and Traps that target.
+
* If you have "Lord of D." or "King Dragun" on the field, "Five-Headed Dragon" can't be targeted by Spell, Trap or monster effects.

* You can tribute this monster for "Great Maju Garzett" and give it 10,000 ATK.
+
* Summoning this card can be useful for sending Dragons to the Graveyard to power up "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" or "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon".
 +
** Using nothing but Dragon Tuners can also power up "Red Nova Dragon".
 +
** It can also power up "Cyberdark Dragon" and provide high-ATK monsters for "Cyberdarkness Dragon".

* This card can be "Fusion Summon"ed using any 5 Dragons, regardless of level or attribute. The weakest and easiest ways to get of this type are the best to use with it.
+
Traditional Format
 +
* "Painful Choice" can easily deposit Dragons into the Graveyard for the usage of "Dragon's Mirror".
 +
* This is a great card to use as a Tribute for "The Tyrant Neptune", as it can gain this card's ATK and effect. Tributing "Hardened Armed Dragon" in addition to this combo will grant "The Tyrant Neptune" additional protection.
 +
* You can use "DNA Surgery" along with "Super Polymerization" to Summon "Five-Headed Dragon". Use "DNA Surgery" to declare all monsters on the field to Dragon-Type, then use "Super Polymerization" to either on your opponent's or your own monsters to bring out "Five-Headed Dragon". It is also very effective to use your opponent's monsters as Fusion Materials, so that way, they won't have any monsters to defend from a direct attack.

* Although this card is immune from Battle Damage mostly, and cannot be destroyed by battle with a DARK, EARTH, WATER, FIRE or WIND monsters (Except by the attacks from LIGHT and DIVINE monsters only, of course.), however, it's still vulnerable to the Card Effects from Spell Cards, Trap Cards, and even Effect Monster Cards. Hence, you could use the area-type Spell Cards and Trap Cards in order to take down this scary monster, such as "Raigeki", "Dark Hole", "Final Destiny", "Magical Dimension", "Raigeki Break", "Trap Hole", and "Bottomless Trap Hole". You could also use the effects of either "Dark Magician Knight", "Gilford the Lightning","XYZ-Dragon Cannon", or even "VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon", in order to remove that very dangerous threat against you from the Playing Field, and allow you to launch an excellent "Direct Attack" at your foes, for a potentially powerful "OTK".
+
* "Dimension Fusion" or "Return from the Different Dimension" can be used to Summon the Fusion Materials that were banished by "Dragon's Mirror".

+
* In a Dragon Ruler/Lightsworn Deck, you can Special Summon all 4 of the Dragon Rulers after using "Judgment Dragon's" effect to destroy all other cards on the field. After attacking with them(Or not, if their LP is already 5000 or less), you can Fusion Summon this card with "Flash Fusion" and attack directly for an OTK.
Traditional Format
+
** You can also banish all 5 of them with "Dragon's Mirror" to summon this card.

* "Painful Choice" can easily deposit Dragons into your Graveyard for the usage of "Dragon's Mirror".
