* Since this effect targets, you can choose to destroy one of your own cards that you intend to use anyway and form a "[[Chain]]", such as "[[Mystical Space Typhoon]]", "[[Phoenix Wing Wind Blast]]", or even other "[[Scrap]]" themed cards like "[[Scrap Sheen]]" or "[[Scrapstorm]]".

  • If this card is destroyed, Special Summon "Scrap Golem" with its effect. Then Special Summon "Scrap Goblin" with the effect of "Scrap Golem", and Synchro Summon using the two cards for another copy of "Scrap Dragon".
  • If you target your "Black Ptera", you can get back in your hand and use it again.
  • You can easily use this card's effect each turn in conjunction with "Level Eater" - simply activate its effect, Special Summon it (by decreasing Scrap Dragon's Level), then use Scrap Dragon's effect.
  • Another nice use for this effect could be with "Mind Control" and any other card that lets you take control of one of your opponent's cards. Use it with Scrap Dragon's effect, thus you won't lose any card, while your opponent will lose two.
  • Use this card's effect on your active "Widespread Dud" to destroy three of your opponent's cards at the cost of one of your own.
  • You can use this card's effect to destroy your set "Wild Tornado" or "Dark Coffin" to destroy another of your opponent's cards.
  • This card works very well with "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys". By using this card's effect to destroy the Phoenix, you will destroy all Spell and Trap cards on the field when it Special Summons itself. Then you can destroy it again with the effect of Scrap Dragon to start the loop over.
  • Summon this card easily with "Debris Dragon", "Dandylion" and a Level 1 Monster such as a "Fluff Token". Then, you can destroy one of the "Fluff Tokens" created to use this card's effect (provided that they don't get destroyed by an opponents card).
  • Use "Dandylion" for this card's destruction effect. This will leave "Fluff Tokens" that can be used next turn.
  • Use this card's effect every turn with "Treeborn Frog", as long as you do not have Spells or Traps on the field.
  • There are many cards with effects that activate in the Graveyard that would benefit from Scrap Dragon destroying them, including "Sangan", "Plaguespreader Zombie" and "Necro Gardna". Summon the monster, use Scrap Dragon's effect to destroy the monster and an opponent's card, then use the destroyed card's effect from the Graveyard.
  • Due to the OCG rulings for this card, the best way to abuse this card's first effect in today's meta would be in Infernities with "Infernity Guardian". Every turn, select "Infernity Guardian" as your card to destroy, then when this card's effect goes to destroy both selected cards, your card won't be destroyed (as long as you have no hand) but the opponent's will be. Free destruction every turn.
  • If you use this card to destroy your opponent's "Elemental Hero Absolute Zero", you can use this card's effect to revive "Scrap Golem" and then Summon a Tuner for either two attacks or to Synchro Summon another "Scrap Dragon" or "Scrap Twin Dragon".
  • Its slightly low attack for an 8 star is a blessing with "Time Machine". They attack and kill Scrap Dragon; its effect activates, giving you a Golem and a Searcher; activate Time Machine and get your dragon back. In the end, you will have just gotten an extra Scrap trump card onto the field for just 1 measly card.
  • You can ram your Scrap Dragon into your opponent's 3000 attack trump card to use its effect an extra time (with Golem and Goblin) or upgrade dragons depending on what you have in your graveyard.
  • Destroy one of your own monsters to Special Summon a Meklord Emperor.
