- Vengeful Bog Spirit can stop Spirit Monsters attacking your Life Points.
- Fittingly enough, given its name, Vengeful Bog Spirit works well with Venom Swamp, as it guarantees your opponent's monsters will be significantly weakened by the time they are able to attack.
- Use this card in a Toon Deck - most Toon monsters won't be affected by this card.
- Vengeful Bog Spirit is a good stalling card together with Penguin Soldier. By returning both himself and another monster to the hand, Penguin Soldier can create an infinite loop, stalling the opponent, and making the opponent unable to attack.
- Vengeful Bog Spirit can combo well with Blizzard Dragon for stall.
- Vengeful Bog Spirit can also be used with Koa'ki Meiru Ice in a stun deck based on stall with Continuous Spell Cards.
- In a Umi Deck, you might use The Legendary Fisherman together with A Legendary Ocean, due to the fact that he won't be affected by this card. In addition, the Fisherman will never be targetd by an attack due to his effect.
- You would also Summon Deepsea Warrior and Mermaid Knight in order to employ severe Beatdown (Mermaid Knight will be affected by either VBS and Legendary Ocean but may attack twice)
- Vengeful Bog Spirit can be used with Infinite Dismissal to stop decks built around Gravity Bind and Level Limit - Area B.
- Use with a Skull Servant Deck as The Lady in Wight on the field leaves a powered-up King of the Skull Servants able to attack without restrictions.
- This card is very effective against a Cyber Dragon deck, because if your opponent activates Power Bond he/she will take damage before the monster may attack.
