- This card can be searched by "Dogu", "Single Purchase", "Temple of the Kings", "Transmodify", "Broken Blocker", "Serpentine Princess", "Vampire Dragon", "Sphere of Chaos", "Dragunity Corsesca", "Sangan", "Rescue Ferret", "Flying Kamakiri #1", "Kujakujaku", "Shrine of Mist Valley", "Divine Wind of Mist Valley" and "Underworld Egg Clutch".
- This card works really well in a "Metalfoes" Deck, as two dead cards and/or "Metalfoes" Spell/Trap Cards can be shuffled back into your Deck to draw any cards that would be of use. Additional, one of your "Metalfoes" monster's Pendulum Effect can be activated to destroy "Vortex Trooper" to draw 1 more card, then Set 1 "Metalfoes" Spell/Trap to Deck thin further.
- Combine two of these cards with "Kuraz the Light Monarch" to draw a total of 4 cards (1 from each "Vortex Trooper", and 1 for each "Trooper" destroyed by "Kuraz")
- This card works well in a "Macro Cosmos deck", because if you draw into too many copies of "Macro Cosmos" and "Dimensional Fissure" then you won't be holding dead cards. (With the current list however, both these cards are limited)
- This card works well with "Light of Intervention", because you can place it in defense right away, but still get its effect.
- After this card is destroyed, it can serve as a target for the effect of "Debris Dragon".
- After you Normal Summoned this card and used its effect,you can swap control of it to the opponent(ex.:"Creature Swap" or "Shien's Spy"),then attack it with another monster.This way,you will be able to not only damage the opponent,but also draw a card after "Vortex Trooper" is destroyed.
- This card is good in decks that are susceptible to dead draws like a Destiny Board Deck
- Use cards like "Stumbling" or/and "Spirit Barrier" to help reduce battle damage, as this card needs to be Normal Summoned for its effect to work.
- Use "Destruction Ring" to instantly gain his draw effect and inflict some burn damage in the process.
Traditional Format
- This card can be searched by "Last Will" and "Witch of the Black Forest".
- This card is useful in Exodia and OTK decks, even in OTK decks that need to banish, such as the "Dark Magician of Chaos" - "Mass Driver" - "Dimension Distortion" combo because "Vortex Trooper" does not have to be sent to the Graveyard to resolve its effect.
