    • In this, it is similar to the infamous Magic: The Gathering card "Black Lotus", a card retroactively banned for its lack of balance, but repeatedly referenced since within later, more measured counterparts.

• In addition, many cards with similar effects (and corresponding cost) have been released, such as "Allure of Darkness", "Solar Recharge", "Trade-In", "Rare Value", "Common Charity", "Destiny Draw", "Reckless Greed", and "Cards of Consonance".

• This is one of the four Forbidden cards that has its effect featured in "Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan" and "Pot of The Forbidden".

• According to the Master Guide whoever tries to take their hand out of the "Pot of Greed" will cause the pot to explode.

• This card has the opposite effect of "The Gift of Greed".
