- In the Yu-Gi-Oh! R Hero Jump Special, "Van'Dalgyon" was the rival card of "Tualatin".
- The above is evidenced by the fact that both cards are Level 8 Effect Monsters with 2800 ATK and 2500 DEF. They also have opposing Attributes, with "Van'Dalgyon" being a Dark monster and "Tualatin" being a Light monster. Lastly, both cards' effects allow them to Special Summon themselves when certain conditions are met.
- This card is similar to "Voltanis the Adjudicator". Both have 2800 ATK, both summon themselves when a Counter Trap is successfully activated (though Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord's effect is only activated when Counter Trap Cards negate the activation of an opponent's card), and both perform an additional effect once summoned to the field in this way.
- This card may be an alternate version of Diabolos, King of the Abyss.
