- This monster appears in the artwork of "Awakening of the Sacred Beasts" and "Magistery Alchemist".
- This card is named after Raziel, the "Angel of Mysteries" featured in Judeo-Christianity religions who is depicted as the author of the Sefer Raziel HaMalakh which he gives to Adam and Eve shortly after they eat the forbidden fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil so they would find their way back and better understand their God.
- This card has a retrained signature move counterpart: "Raviel, Lord of Phantasms - Shimmering Scraper".
- This monster's design was overseen by Kenichi Hara.
- This card is the Sacred Beast counterpart to "Obelisk the Tormentor"
- This monster's humanoid appearance and blue color scheme is similar to the appearance of "Obelisk the Tormentor".
- Both cards feature similar effects by Tributing a monster(s) and gaining ATK in the anime.
- In the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime, this card's blue border design was similar to that of "Obelisk the Tormentor's" original blue borders.
- According to a Pojo post by Dan Scheidegger (an Upper Deck Entertainment employee), this card was originally approved to have "Genma" in its TCG name, but a 3rd company decided "they didn't like the word."
- In another Pojo post, Dan further explained that this was not for censorship reasons, but rather because the company did not think the name was "cool enough."
