Timaeus (ティマイオス Timaiosu) is a series of Monster and Spell cards which represent the different forms of "Legendary Knight Timaeus". They were used by Yugi Muto and Yami Yugi in the Waking the Dragons arc of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime.

Playing style[edit]

The cards have several styles of play: one revolves around Fusion Summoning and generally supports "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl", whilst the other is designed to work in conjunction with the other "Legendary Knights" cards in order to bring out their boss monster "Timaeus the Knight of Destiny".

"The Eye of Timaeus" is a one-card Fusion for any Fusion Monster that specifically lists "Dark Magician" or "Dark Magician Girl." Whilst this card was intended to bring out Fusion Monsters such as "Amulet Dragon" and "Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight", it is highly useful for bringing out other boss monsters and improving consistency in the deck by not having to include other specific materials. Notable examples include "Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon" and "Dark Paladin". Additionally, "Timaeus the United Dragon" acts as a Monster version of this card with the added bonus of being able to Fusion Summon using any Spellcaster monster.

"Legendary Knight Timaeus" is the "true" form of the card. It is usually played alongside of the other two "Legendary Knight" cards and is Summoned by "Legend of Heart". This strategy is usually accompanied by a Warrior-Type strategy and culminates in being able to Summon "Timaeus the Knight of Destiny".

Trivia[edit]

  • The "eye" theme of the Timaeus cards is a reference to the injury the character received during the Battle of Atlantis in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime.
  • This series is named after Timaeus, the first part of Plato's trilogy of dialogues, which serve as the source of myths pertaining to the lost city of Atlantis, which in itself played a huge role in the anime arc this series appeared in.
