Translated Name[edit]

I don't find "Curious Schemes" to be the right translation. I mean, look at the picture. In what way would the word "curious" fit in here. Also, the TCG name is called "Nitwit Outwit"; it must be basing the idea of cleverness here. LastMinute (talkcontribs) 02:51, May 3, 2012 (UTC)

Master D changed the translation a while back and seemed pretty indignant that someone could translate it as "Curious". I would take it up with him. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 02:55, May 3, 2012 (UTC)
Like Coffee dude said, it was Master's little "mad" science and mistake left a little bit of that part behind when he moved the image of that card from here to other article. At least you spot it and get it fixing. --iFredCat 04:15, May 3, 2012 (UTC)
No, I meant that "Clever Schemes" was the mistranslation. Master D was the one who changed it to "Curious" and said it was a translation error in his edit summary. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 04:22, May 3, 2012 (UTC)
Yep, still waiting for his respond. But, what do you guys think? I understand that Cheesedude is following Master D's changes because he feels displeased about the supposed "mistranlation". LastMinute (talkcontribs) 04:26, May 3, 2012 (UTC)
Here's the thing. The article was originally created under "Clever Schemes" based on NeoArkadia's translations. Given that Ark himself has admitted many of his translations are done at about 2AM, I don't think it's unlikely he could have made a mistake. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 04:30, May 3, 2012 (UTC)
Well, it's really hard to tell time on the Internet. I mean, right now I see wikia's time on May 3 at around 4:30 (AM/PM?). LastMinute (talkcontribs) 04:37, May 3, 2012 (UTC)
Oh, wait. it's 4:30 AM. i think it's 24HRS. LastMinute (talkcontribs) 04:39, May 3, 2012 (UTC)

(sigh) So, in what way does this card's japanese name make it "curious schemes" and not "clever schemes"? it's even translated into "clever schemes" in google and other translations, which i've used and it works. LastMinute (talkcontribs) 04:48, May 3, 2012 (UTC)

奇 means curious, bizarre, strange. Use www.tangorin.com for translating kanji. I will change it if someone doesn't offer a sound counterargument. MadRest 16:54, May 3, 2012 (UTC)

well, from my experiences with kanji/chinese words, most words that are formed by combining two different words don't usually have the same meaning any more. LastMinute (talkcontribs) 00:31, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

Eh, why not?! I'll just change it to singular. MadRest 01:28, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

Using an online translator to translate words is very clunky and doens't show what the word means in a certain context.

In this card's name the word [奇] means bizarre or special, the word [策] means a plan or scheme. Both those words together mean "Mischivious Scheme" or "Clever Scheme".  HHT   - (Talk to the Turtle) 18:32, June 20, 2012 (UTC)
