TCG Rulings

• You cannot activate this effect during the Damage Step.

• Removing from play 1 monster with ? [sic] is a cost.

• This effect does not target.

• If multiple monsters are Special Summoned at the same time, including "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate", you can activate its effect to destroy all your opponent's monsters that were Special Summoned at the same time.

• If you activate "The Shallow Grave" while you control "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate" you can activate its effect to destroy the monster your opponent Special Summons.

OCG Rulings

• The effect of "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate" is a Trigger Effect. (It does not target. Banishing 1 monster with ? ATK is a cost to activate this effect. Also, it cannot be activated during the Damage Step.)

• If you activate the effect of "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate" when your opponent Special Summons 2 or more monsters at the same time, all those Special Summoned monsters are destroyed.

• Q: If "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate" and an opponent's Spellcaster monster are Special Summoned at the same time by "Magician's Circle", can you activate the effect of "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate"?

A: Even in this case, you can activate the effect of "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate". The opponent's Spellcaster monster that was Special Summoned at the same time as "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate" is destroyed.

• Q: While "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate" is face-up on the field, if each player Special Summons a monster in face-down Defense Position by the effect of "The Shallow Grave", can you activate the effect of "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate"?

A: You can activate the effect of "Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate" even if a monster is Special Summoned in face-down Defense Position by the effect of "The Shallow Grave". Also, only the monster that your opponent Special Summoned is destroyed.
