Card Rulings:Molting Escape
OCG Rulings
- The effect "Once per turn, if the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle, it is not destroyed" does not make a Chain Link.[1]
- The effect "The equipped monster gains 300 ATK at the end of the Damage Step each time this effect is applied" makes a Chain Link.[1]
- The ATK increase due to the effect "The equipped monster gains 300 ATK" applies as long as that monster is face-up on the field.[1]
- The ATK increase due to the effect "The equipped monster gains 300 ATK" is still applied even after that "Molting Escape" is destroyed.[1]
TCG Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Konami before the introduction of Problem-Solving Card Text. Since the introduction of the new text structure, individual card rulings for the TCG are no longer issued or actively maintained.[3] They have never been formally overturned as a whole and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules and do not contradict card text. |
Konami Rulings
- A monster equipped with 2 "Molting Escapes" will only avoid destruction by battle 1 time each turn. Both effects to gain 300 ATK will be applied individually.[2]
- The equipped monster will not gain 300 ATK if it battles while it cannot be destroyed by battle due to a different effect.[2]
- The ATK increases from "Molting Escape" are applied continuously and will disappear if "Molting Escape" is unequipped.[2]

Rules posted online will be limited to super-complicated and really weird situations. Imagine going down to a dozen pages of card rules, instead of a thousand. It could happen.
