Card Rulings:Shock Troops of the Ice Barrier
TCG Rulings
- You can target your opponent’s WATER monster.[1]
- If the target is not face-up on the field when the effect resolves, you cannot destroy it and you cannot add an “Ice Barrier” monster to your hand.[1]
- Destroying the WATER monster and adding an “Ice Barrier” monster to your hand happen simultaneously.[1]
OCG Rulings
- This effect is an Ignition Effect. (It targets 1 face-up WATER monster on the field. Tributing "Shock Troops of the Ice Barrier" is a cost to activate its effect.)[2]
- Destroying the targeted monster and adding 1 "Ice Barrier" monster from your Deck to your hand are considered to happen simultaneously.[2]
- If you do not have any "Ice Barrier" monsters in your Deck, then you cannot activate the effect of "Shock Troops of the Ice Barrier".[2]
- If an effect like "Book of Moon" or "Raigeki Break" is activated in chain to the effect of "Shock Troops of the Ice Barrier" so that the WATER monster is no longer face-up on the field at resolution, then the effect of "Shock Troops of the Ice Barrier" cannot destroy the WATER monster, so you cannot add an "Ice Barrier" monster from your Deck to your hand.[3]
