Card Rulings:Sword Master
OCG Rulings
- The effect of "Sword Master" which Special Summons it can be activated only if, after a Warrior-Type monster does damage calculation, the opponent's monster is not destroyed by battle.[1]
- If a Warrior-Type monster attacks, performs damage calculation, does not destroy the other monster, and afterwards the other monster is destroyed by a card effect, then the effect of "Sword Master" which Special Summons it can still be activated.[2]
- Example: If your Warrior-Type monster attacks an opponent's "Marshmallon", and "Divine Wrath" negates the activation of the damage-inflicting effect of "Marshmallon" and destroys "Marshmallon", then you can still Special Summon "Sword Master".[2]
TCG Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Konami before the introduction of Problem-Solving Card Text. Since the introduction of the new text structure, individual card rulings for the TCG are no longer issued or actively maintained.[4] They have never been formally overturned as a whole and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules and do not contradict card text. |
- This effect activates if your opponent's monster is not destroyed during damage calculation.[3]
- The attacking monster must be Warrior-Type the entire time from attack declaration until the end of the Damage Step in order to Special Summon "Sword Master."[3]
- If your opponent's monster is destroyed by a card effect while your Warrior-Type monster is attacking, it is still not destroyed by battle, so you can Special Summon "Sword Master."[3]

Rules posted online will be limited to super-complicated and really weird situations. Imagine going down to a dozen pages of card rules, instead of a thousand. It could happen.
