Card Rulings talk:Backfire
Japanese rulings state that 'tributing' a monster isn't 'destroying' it. My question is that my friend played Backfire and tributed a monster, he then said I must take 500 damage as the monster is destroyed. Is this correct for the English rulings?
- You shouldn't take 500 damage, since he tributed the monster, which means it wasn't destroyed. Ruling differences between OCG and TCG do exist, but I'm guessing it doesn't apply to this card. --Pizzaman 05:24, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
But isnt it counted as destorying, as the monster once tributed is destroyed???? If its sent to the graveyard, its destroyed, or else it would have stated on the backfire card that it was "due as a result of battle" only.
- Tributing and destroying is not the same, you shouldn't take the Damage. --Tyrant Slayer (Contribs) 04:05, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- Tributing and Destroying are different. This is why you can Tribute Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys to prevent her coming back via her own effect next turn.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 13:34, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
