Forum:"Negating attack" questions

Heya, I just wanted to know a rule about Negating an attack. If an attack is negated, does that mean it's like the monster never attacked? Here's a few problems I ran into:

1: I have Red Dragon Archfiend and Dark Resonator. Dark Resonator declares an attack, but opponent plays Negate Attack. I declared an attack with Dark Resonator, but it was negated, and "technically" never happened (right?). So would Red Dragon Archfiend destroy my Resonator at the end phase?

2: My opponent plays Mythical Beast Cerberus, a monster card that gains spell counters everytime a spell is played, and he gains atk points equal to the number of spell counters he has x500. And when he attacks or is attacked, he loses his spell counters. So he declares an attack, and I activate Scrap-Iron Scarcrow to negate his attack. Since his attack was negated, would he lose his spell counters after the battle?

Thanks :) ~ElectroBlade

In general, the monster is not considered to have attacked, except for the purpose of game mechanics (like changing Battle Position, or declaring another attack).
1) "Dark Resonator" is not considered to have attacked, so "Red Dragon Archfiend" will destroy it.
2) The Spell Counters are not removed from "Mythical Beast Cerberus".

Attack Negated and Summon Negated are complete different - Summon is define for bring a monster onto the field; if it's negated, then it never exist. Attack is define for command an attack; if it's negated, then that monster is already exhausted and just go to beach and sit down but didn't keep it from being strangle by Red Dragon Archfiend for failing his command. --FredCat 23:57, March 14, 2012 (UTC)
