1) King Tiger Wanghu is on the field. Mystical Space Typhoon is activated targeting a face-down Call of the Haunted. COTH is chained to MST targeting Dark Magician of Chaos in the Graveyard. When the chain resolves, COTH special summons DMOC (Wanghu is triggered now but he waits to finish the chain). MST then resolves and destroys COTH. Does DMOC gets destroyed the time COTH is destroyed (during MST's resolution), or after MST's resolution (I think, since destroying the monster with COTH is a condition and not a continuous effect, it is applied simultaneously after the monster is destroyed, at MST's resolution)? DMOC misses the timing to add a spell card to the hand, right? Since DMOC is not on the field, does KTW's effect still activate and form a chain, or no chain is formed?

2) If an effect is chained to Wanghu's effect and increases the monster's ATK above 1400, does it get destroyed, or Wanghu only checks the monster's ATK at its activation? If it checks the ATK only at activation, then where is the difference with Bottomless Trap Hole which checks the ATK at the resolution too?

3) Naturia Hostneedle's effect is a trigger or a quick effect? If it's a trigger then,: You have Hostneddle and Antjaw on the field, and the opponent ss a monster. You choose to place Hostneddle in chain link 1 by tributing Antjaw for the cost. Then can you still activate (place in the chain) Antjaw's effect, or not since it's not on the field anymore? 1) "Dark Magician of Chaos" is destroyed after "Mystical Space Typhoon" resolves, but "Call of the Haunted" and "Dark Magician of Chaos" are considered to be destroyed simultaneously for the purposes of game mechanics.
Right, you miss the timing. When the Chain finishes resolving, the last thing to resolve is "Mystical Space Typhoon", not the Summon of "Dark Magician of Chaos", so you cannot activate its effect.
The effect does not activate. You do not know the monster's ATK, so you do not know whether or not it is <1400.
2) The monster is not destroyed if its ATK is >1400 at resolution. It is just like "Trap Hole" or "Bottomless Trap Hole".
3) It's Trigger.
To my knowledge, you can still activate the effect of "Naturia Antjaw". Its effect was triggered successfully, so you can activate its effect, even if "Naturia Antjaw" is no longer face-up on the field. I believe there's still some debate over it, though.

Finally someone's respond! :)

1) Isn't that the same with question 3? Since Wanghu's effect was triggered successfully, then its effect will be placed on the in a new chain and it resolve without effect. (That's what I thought!) Why is different with 3?

2) Alright, thanks!

3) Thanks! Blue-Eyes Shining Girl 14:17, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

1) The effect of "King Tiger Wanghu" only activates if the Summoned monster has <1400 when its effect would activate - for example, if "Dark Magician of Chaos" remained face-up on the field, then it would have 2800 ATK, so the effect of "King Tiger Wanghu" wouldn't activate.
Here, when the effect of "King Tiger Wanghu" would activate, "Dark Magician of Chaos" is not face-up on the field, so "King Tiger Wanghu" can't check its ATK to see if it is <1400 or not. Thus, the effect can't activate.

A little confused. When space destroys the facedown card and the facedown is activated, its COTH which summons DMOC. So doesn't his effect kick rite away? (Because of Spell Speed, COTH first, then MST) COTH activates then resolves, then MST's effect activates, then resolves.

  • Dark Magician of Chaos' effect misses the timing, since the last thing to have happened is MST resolving, not DMOC being summoned. So DMOC's effect can't be activated. And the activation/resolution secuence is as follows: MST activated, COTH chained (activated), COTH resolves, MST resolves. --Darth Covah (Talk | Contribs) 09:00, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
