My question is, that could be flip effect card effects negated by solemn judgement, when i've already attacked the card in face-down position, and it's about to go to the graveyard, but it "leaves" it's effect behind. for example: i have a solemn j. set from turns ago. i attack a face down "penguin soldier" with a strong card, e.g. beyes wd, before it's sent 2 the gy, it can force me to return my tributed monster to my hand. could this effect of flip effect cards be stopped with solemn j.?

  • Solemn Judgment negates Normal/Special/Flip/Synchro/Tribute/Fusion summons, so long as the can be negated. Flipping an attacked monster face-up in the Damage Step is not a Flip Summon, so Solemn Judgment can't negate it. --Darth Covah 19:24, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
    • Just a note, "Solemn Judgment" does not negate effects. If you negate a Flip Summon, the monster is not considered to have been flipped. Since it was never flipped, its Flip Effect never activates. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 23:06, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Flip-effect cards are not flipped face up during the damage step??? Ummm The rule book clearly states during the battle step, "calculate the damage points of the designated monster(s). If a monster has a Flip Effect, Apply it immediately after damage calculation" it also states below again in the damage step "Flip target card face-up if face-down." The card no matter what has to be even in realistic terms "Flipped" considering you have be able even look at the card see it's ATK/DEF rating.

"Flip-effect cards are not flipped face up during the damage step???" When did anyone say that?Amadeus Von Blastoise (talkcontribs) 03:47, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Nobody said anything about monsters not being flipped face-up during battle. They just said that it being flipped face-up by battle is not a Flip Summon. From the Flip Summon page: "A monster flipped face-up by a card effect, such as "Book of Taiyou" or "Stop Defense", or as a result of battle is not considered a Flip Summon. Only flipping a Set monster manually is considered a Flip Summon. However, because the monster was flipped face-up, any Flip Effects will activate."

Either way Flip Effect Monsters will still activate as long as the monster is flipped face-up by card effects, battle or Flip Summon. Solemn Judgment can only negate summons, but it cannot negate Effect Monsters' effects.-- HHTurtle Talk   06:02, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

OMG this is the 2nd time today that I learnt something about a card effect that I didn't know before. SJ can't stop monster effects!? I guess its not as good as I thought. IPlay4Fun (talkcontribs) 07:49, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Well, there's nothing written on Solemn Judgment that has anything to do with Effect Monsters' effects. Why would you think it can negate those?-- HHTurtle Talk   10:07, October 19, 2010 (UTC)
