Saw this duel play out the other day. How would this situation have ended out?
Player A attacks with BLS-EOTB and destroys a monster Player A activates BLS's effect to attack again Player B plays Forbidden Chalice during the Damage Step
Would BLS's attack continue?

- Take a look at Breakdown of the Battle Phase.
- "Forbidden Chalice" can be activated during the first 3 sub-steps because it modifies ATK. You can see that from its Rulings too: "Because it modifies ATK, “Forbidden Chalice” can be activated in the Damage Step. But not during damage calculation or any point in the Damage Step after damage calculation."
- Since "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning"'s effect activates at the end of the Damage Step (sub-step 7) when the destroyed by battle monster is sent to the Graveyard, it's too late to activate "Forbidden Chalice" then.
- So, in order to negate BLS-EOTB's effect during the Damage Step is to activate "Forbidden Chalice" during 1 of the first 3 sub-steps.

- You also said "Would BLS's attack continue?" As ATEMVEGETA said, if you don't negate it before damage calculation (when BLS makes its first attack), BLS will be able to make a second attack. Even if you activate "Forbidden Chalice" during the Damage Step of its second attack, that will do nothing to prevent that attack. --UltimateKuriboh (talk • contribs) 23:15, September 5, 2013 (UTC)
