I've always wanted a really great deck that would support Dark Simorgh. So when I heard about the Gusto monsters, I couldn't help but wonder if they weren't the ticket to building such a deck.
The problem is, I'm not really familiar with the Gustos - or Blackwings either for that matter. Still, I've come up with a partial deck list as a start. Now, I'm looking for help deciding whether I should fill this out, or pitch the idea entirely as being unworkable.

- My thoughts, in no particular order -
- It seems to me that with this set up, I'd have to ensure I was dumping to the graveyard a lot - so I'm wondering if the standard Ryko/Charge of the Light Brigade should be included or used instead of Magical Merchant. Doing that would also enable me to include a Chaos Sorcerer.
- Other cards to consider would be Allure of Darkness and Card Destruction.
- I've always heard you should run Anti-Spell Fragrance with Dark Simorgh so that's a must.
- And with all the winged beasts in this deck, you'd be nuts not to run Icarus Attack.
So tell me, can is there a way this can work?
Thanks in advance for your constructive help. --Kungfu-mama(talk) 13:59, August 10, 2011 (UTC)
If you throw in three Rykos, you don't necessarily have to take out Magical Merchant. At least, not all three. Maybe -1 Magical Merchant, +3 Ryko. This would put you at 25 monsters, which is decent for a deck like this. DON'T use Chaos Sorcerer, 3 LIGHTS is not enough. Put in Charge of the Light Brigade. Three Pot of Dualities would help. Throw in a few staple spells (MST, Smashing Ground, etc.). And, maybe Trap Stuns instead of Anti-Spell Fragrance. Skullvarnish (talk • contribs) 14:13, August 10, 2011 (UTC)
- It does seem like Ryko/Charge of the Lightbrigade is a win-win. And I love the idea of Trap Stun instead of Anti-Spell Fragrance. I am also wondering about Monster Reincarnation - it sure seems like that would be a helpful card to have in this set-up. And, yes, I do know Dark Simorgh can be brought out from either the hand or graveyard.

Filled out the deck list with a tentative card selection. Any more thought on how to improve this? --Kungfu-mama(talk) 19:26, August 14, 2011 (UTC)
Well, as far as cards that mill go, there's not much more you can do. I mean you could use Foolish Burial, but it's not necessary with all the other milling. I'm not seeing the reason to use One For One. May I ask what you usually do with it? Skullvarnish (talk • contribs) 13:43, August 15, 2011 (UTC)
- This is a build I am researching, not one that I've actually played. But I see a very good use for One for One here. For instance discard any monster - an extraneous Vayu, or, depending on what's in the graveyard, a Dark Simorgh - to bring out Gusto Egul. --Kungfu-mama(talk) 19:51, August 15, 2011 (UTC)
Ah, I see. I thought about the Chaos Sorcerer thing. One might work. I'm just not sure what it could replace. Skullvarnish (talk • contribs) 19:57, August 15, 2011 (UTC)
