Hi, I'm just asking 2 quick questions. If Chaos Sorcerer was summoned and was destroyed by bottemless, can its effect still resolve? My friend said that its an Once per turn thing and cannot chain. Also, is tributing the same as destroying? Thanks! CardMaster. (talkcontribs) 05:14, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

well no your friend is wrong because a trap is faster then a effect so he can't activate it and tributing is not the same as destroying in a way but not exactly but the point is they are different

Destroying is a way of sending cards to the Graveyard.

Cards can be destroyed by card effects, which explicitly use the word "destroy". When a monster is beaten in battle, it is considered destroyed as well.

When a card is destroyed, it is sent to the Graveyard, unless there is a Card on the Field that says otherwise.

Discarding, offering as a Tribute, or directly removing a card from play or sending a card to the Graveyard are not the same as destroying a card. For example, if monsters are sent to the graveyard for a Fusion Summon, they are simply referred to as sent to the graveyard. Cards sent to the graveyard for a Synchro Summon are also treated in a similar fashion. However, if "Crush Card Virus" destroys a "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" in a players hand, its effect won't activate because it is destroyed and not discarded.

Tribute (Release in the OCG, formerly Sacrifice) is usually a way of voluntarily sending a card from your side of the field to the Graveyard, often used to activate a card effect or perform a Summon. When you Tribute a card it is not considered destroyed. Some examples include:

  • Monsters being Tributed for a Tribute Summon.
  • "Exiled Force" Tributing itself in order to activate its effect to destroy one monster on the field.
  • Ritual Monsters requiring their corresponding Ritual Spell Card and a Tribute of Monster Cards whose total Level is greater than or equal to the Level of the Ritual Monster in order for it to be summoned to the field. — This unsigned comment was made by 67.171.133.181 (talkcontribs)

If Chaos Sorc was Special Summoned, and Priority was used to activate its effect, then Bottomless was chained. : Bottomless resolves first, removing Chaos Sorc, then Sorc still resolves, removing whatever monster was targetted. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 05:32, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
