Forum:Brionac question

Ok I have a Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier question. "it's like the umtenth time on this forum for this card lol. I have read on this forum from other posts that Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier has priority unless you pass it to your opponent. In cases of Bottomless Trap Hole. If my opponent activates Bottomless Trap Hole but I tell him of this ruleing should I allow him to move his Bottomless Trap Hole to a different spot since he didn't know? or since you are not allowed to move your cards to a different spot then I just got away with being able to summon him because i would obviously bounce back his Bottomless Trap Hole. Another question does that mean Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier always have priority before other cards on the field? Thank You Coltman66 08:34, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

No, you have it all wrong. You should see the page on "Priority" after this.
Cards don't have Priority, Players do. If you summon Brionac, you have priority to use the Ignition Effect once, before the opponent can chain cards (e.g. Bottomless), if you pass priority, then they can just use Bottomless and you can't chain your effect since it's spell speed 1. That's the basics of Priority, so you should see the page now. Falzar FZ 08:39, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Ok thank you for the link on priority. So if I understand this correctly, I summon Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, I call priority bounce anything I want then my opponent chains Bottomless Trap Hole. then Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier will always be destroyed in that manor but I'm still allowed to have the cards I choose to be bounced back, bounce back correct? If that is the correct case then what happens if I did choose the Bottomless Trap Hole and my opponent uses it, then would Bottomless Trap Hole go to the graveyard after it's effect would be resolved? or would it be bounced back and be able to be used again? Also Thank you so much Falzar FZ You always have the correct answers and explain them very well, who ever you are. Coltman66 09:31, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

  • You summon Brionac. You have priority (don't need to call it), your opponent cannot do anything until you pass it. So it's:
Chain Link 1: Brionac (uses Priority, discards for cost and selects Targets)
Chain Link 2: Bottomless

Resolve

Chain Link 2: Bottomless (removes Brionac)
Chain Link 1: Brionac (bounces whatever you targeted. Note that if you targeted bottomless, it won't get bounced, it will still go to the grave since it's 'used')

The reason why it's not bounced is because:

  • As a general rule:"An 'activated' Normal Spell, Ritual Spell, Quick-Play Spell, Normal Trap or Counter Trap will be unaffected by an effect that tries to return it to hand or deck."

Again Thank You Falzar FZ I think you explained this perfectly. I really appriciate it. No more on this matter again. Coltman66 09:46, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
