I don't understand if Catastor's effect activates when it attacks a face down effect monster, such as morhping jar, as the two rulings he has seem to be opposites.
- The effect or [sic] “Ally of Justice Catastor” activates at the very start of the Damage Step before face-down monsters are flipped face-up.[1]
- If “Ally of Justice Catastor” or the opponent’s monster is face-down at the start of the Damage Step, the effect of “Ally of Justice Catastor” will not apply.[1]

- The first one doesn't say that it will activate, it just tells you the time, if it could activate.
- so the two basically means:
- If the effect can activate, it would activate at the time before face-down monsters are flipped face-up.
- It won't activate against a face-down monster.

See Breakdown of the Battle Phase, Damage Step, Substep 1, there it activates. Monsters are flipped at substep 2, so when catastor activates it can't check the type and as such can't destroy by its effect. -dest- (talk • contribs) 10:29, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
So does that mean his effect will never apply against a face down monster? And so battle searcher effects like Mystic tomato or Pyramid turtle and stuff like D.D. warrior lady can activate? 198.188.171.152 (talk) 17:18, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
