Forum:Dark Fusion Deck Help

Earlier I made a Valkyrion Deck, but I've now decided to switch focus to a Dark Fusion deck. While it isn't that much different, I felt that the concept of the new deck type was enough to warrant a new topic. Valkyrion the Magna Warrior is still a major player, but I've now changed the deck to include an almost balanced ratio between fiend and rock monsters (9:11) for Evil Hero Dark Gaia. Please tell me what you think of the deck, and how I can improve upon it to play competitively at tournaments. I will also be adding a side deck later, but that will come later this week or next week.

Side Deck: 15

I was thinking of adding 2x Evil Hero Malicious Fiend because he would work quite well with the Ojama Trio. If I do that, then I'll probably add 2x Dark Fusion. I was also thinking about adding 2xMagical Mallet to increase my drawing power. Please keep in mind that I'd like to stay in the 40-45 card range. Thanks for your feedback! Help

Thanks

Ok, I added 2x Dark Fusion and 2x Gigantes. I love his effect, thanks for the suggestion. Also, do you believe that this deck can perform well at tournaments? I'm not sure about the most common deck types at my local tournament, but I'd still like your input on this deck's ability to perform well. Also what other changes do you think can improve my deck? Thanks! Subcontinental86 04:54, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Ok, I was looking over the rulings of Dimension Explosion, and it states that if either player has no monsters in the Removed Zone then I can't use it. Now English is my second language, so does this mean that both players need to have monsters in the Removed Zone for me to activate it? If so, would it be a good idea to replace them with a Mirror Force and another Magic Jammer, replace with two Magical Mallet, or just leave those two out? Also I was contemplating taking out Granmarg the Rock Monarch, and replacing him with another Gamma The Magnet Warrior and Valkyrion the Magna Warrior. Thanks! Alright, I've played with this deck as is using slips of paper to pretend as if I actually had all the cards (still waiting on some of them to come in). One thing that really bothers me is that The Wicked Dreadroot is pretty much an absolute dead draw if I don't have one of the fusion cards. Would it be a good idea to replace him with 2x Dark Ruler Ha Des? However is there a magic card I can use to get him on the field from the Removed Zone, so that I could have one of my dark fusion monsters and Ha Des out on the same turn? I know I could use the trap Return from the Different Dimension, but I was considering running 2x Royal Decree and getting rid of most of my traps for monster and magic cards. I realize that I may be asking quite a few questions so soon, but I highly value your input. Thanks! Subcontinental86 04:40, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

D.D.R - Different Dimension Return can bring back one monster from the Removed from play Zone, if that's what you're looking for, and it's a spell card, which means it wont be affected by Royal Decree. Ciao,

Made Some More Adjustments

Ok, I made some more adjustments to the deck. I've taken out a lot of the traps since I felt that they focused too much on destroying my opponent's cards instead of helping me achieve victory faster. I've replaced two of the traps with 2x Royal Decree, two more with 2x D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation, and I took most of the others out. I've also taken out 2x The Wicked Dreadroot for 2x Dark Ruler Ha Des as Dreadroot was basically a dead draw. Do any of you have anymore suggestions as to what I should do with this deck? I think it's pretty good thanks to your help, but I'm always willing to make it better. Subcontinental86 23:33, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

  • Granmarg isn't good and it's not as effective as other monarchs in your deck. Take out both and replace it with a Raiza. If you plan on using Granmarg as your Dark Fusion fodder, don't. That's why Valks are maxed out. Really fast Dark Fusion decks rely on Valkyrion in the hand as well as another powerful Fiend in your hand, and fusing them together with Dark Fusion and summoning Evil Hero Gaia. They rely on massive draw power to increase the speed to a maximum (examples: Hand Destruction). So if you're trying to play the Alpha, Gamma, Beta thing - I wish you the best of luck against decks like Batteryman. Good luck, hope that helps. Chris427 01:23, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

How about I throw out Granmarg the Rock Monarch, replace him with one more Valkyrion the Magna Warrior and one more Neo-Spacian Grand Mole? I don't have Raiza the Storm Monarch at the moment, but I'll look around for him. Also, would replacing Magical Mallet with Hand Destruction be a good idea? I could also look to use Foolish Burial, but again I don't want this deck to get over 45 cards. Thanks for the constructive criticism! I always look forward to improving my deck. • That's a fine idea. 1 Granmarg though, because Valk's just so much more useful. As for the Alpha, Beta, Gamma thing - just keep them because it's going to unnecessarily reconstruct the deck you worked hard on. As for the whole Raiza thing, if you don't have one, that's perfectly fine. Sometimes a Gigantes does a much better job than Raiza. Keep 1 or 2 of him in there. As for Foolish Burial, I'm not so sure how well it can do, but I don't think its necessary. As for Hand Destruction, Magical Mallet is a good replacement. 2 is fine as it is now in your deck. Well I think I will take out the 2x Alpha The Magnet Warrior and 2x Gamma The Magnet Warrior because the only purpose they seem to have is act as fodder for my opponent's monsters >_> . However, if I take those out I won't have many non tribute monsters, so I believe that replacing them with one more Evil Hero Infernal Gainer and one more Gigantes would help out. That would help cut my deck size down to 42 cards, thus allowing me to get better draws in the end. Subcontinental86 21:31, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Major Changes to Deck

Yesterday I played at a Hobby League for my first time, and I went 1-2. I lost to Gladiator Beasts (did ok against that), Gadget Oppression (got thoroughly trounced by it...>_>), and beat a Zombie deck. Chris you were completely correct in that this deck needs some massive draw power (Magical Mallet didn't help), so I've asked around to see what I can do and I changed the deck to implement better drawing. I've also added some monsters that could prove to be annoying for my opponents while keeping field advantage for myself.

What's different about this deck is that I don't have to rely on bringing out my fusions, so I shouldn't be too bad off when I face a Gadget deck. I can use Evil Hero Infernal Gainer's effect on Evil Hero Malicious Edge, then when he returns two turns later I can use a fusion to seal the deal. Tell me what you think about this update, and how I can improve upon it. Thanks! Subcontinental86 15:55, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

I finally managed to add a Side Deck. I kept in mind decks that give me a lot of trouble (Gladiator Beasts, Gadget Oppression, etc.). I also made some changes to the deck that will hopefully prove helpful. Please give me your feedback on this deck. Thanks! Subcontinental86 01:14, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

  • To cut down the deck size, I suggest you remove both Dark Ruler Ha Des, 1 Monster Gate and Seven Tools of the Bandit. Use Mirror Force in your main deck too. SuperTeddy 08:19, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

I run an Evil Hero deck myself and I say use Gainer's effect on the turn you summon Dark Gaia, because Dark Gaia will have the chance to finish the duel in one turn. Fuse your strongest Rock and Fiend Type monsters to summon Dark Gaia with Dark Fusion and then use Dark Calling to summon another Dark Gaia with the same stats. Next, summon Evil Hero Infernal Gainer and remove him from play so one Evil Hero Dark Gaia can attack twice in one turn. That will purely defeat your opponent in one turn. If you want to see my Evil Hero deck list, just comment back. Haou 19:46, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Haou

  • I've used that strategy quite a bit, but I don't always draw the cards to do it first turn. Sure I'd love to see your deck list. Subcontinental86 20:26, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Problem: Your deck doesn't work. Chris427 00:52, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Chris are you talking about my deck or Haou's deck? No offense Haou, but I'm not a huge fan of the deck you're running. I think that's because I'm trying to concentrate mainly on Malicious Edge/Dark Gaia/Malicious Fiend for a win instead of all the other fusions that you're using.
