Forum:Disaster Dragon, trying to do too much,

I got the stuff for a Disaster Dragon deck a while back, but whenever I tried to make it, it didn't work 'right' as I was trying to make it do too much, so... here's what I'm considering between, in one list, and can people help me crop it down?

Sept 2010 list of course,

Each Part:

Red-Eyes makes dragon decks work,

L&D + Gen + REDMD = mini L&D loop

Blue Eyes/L&D = targets for trade-in, who i can re-add to hand via Gen

Dread/Deb/tWSoL = targets for CoC, who i can re-add to hand via Gen

Dread > magna drago as if i'm stuck stalling, it can search

Yamata = summoned via Totem, and draw 5,

Masked = toolbox,

Koa'Ki = beatstick with nice effect, if I control it right,

Future = Enable control

Burial = Get stuff back in grave (wyvern/totem)

everything else is fairly staple, so what do i need to cut? as I'm trying to get it down to 40, thanks-Resk-14:29, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

My suggestion

I run a deck very similar to this. I'd suggest dropping -

Genesis (he's rather counterproductive in this deck)
Koa'ki Meiru Drago (side deck him. He can hurt your REDMD)
Light and Darkness. He really doesn't help much
Dread Dragon. You've got Masked.

Add in a couple of Totem Dragon and a Magna Drago (you mention Magna, but it's not listed). Totem helps with Yamata and bringing out Blue-Eyes.

I also found that Cards of Consonance was a dead draw more often than not, so I nixed it. Also, consider trading in Dark Hole and My Body as a Shield of one of your Trade-In's for 2 Gold Sarcophagus. Gold Sarcophagus will be plentiful at the end of September. And keep an eye out for Dragon Canyon, if it's ever released in TCG form. --Kungfu-mama(talk) 17:44, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

I had totems, just forgot to list, dread dragon is like Magna, but also a searcher, and how would you mean Genisis is counter productive? Also, Koa'ki is fairly easy to control if to bring out a REDMD esp, as I choose the order during endphase,-Resk-21:49, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

Dread Dragon's searching ability won't help you if you plan on using him as a Tuner. Tuners generally don't stay on the field very long. Didn't realize that you had meant you'd substituted him for Magna though (thought you had just forgotten to list Magna). If you're happy with him, by all means keep him. I've found that I've had to play my dragon deck pretty conservatively, because it's easy to end up with no cards in my hand - thus Genesis Dragon can be counterproductive (having to discard to bring back). You also don't want to return ALL your dragons back to your deck (Genesis' 2nd effect, although you don't have to use it). And since you're running 3 REDMD, you really don't need Genesis' first effect. As for koa'ki - just my taste to use him only when I really need him. There's so much going on with this deck that dealing with his effect on top of everything else gets to be a bit much. If you don't want to side deck him, consider taking him down to only one copy.

Genesis Dragon should still be used, as his effect is OPTIONAL. Also, use Magna Drago/Masked Dragon over Dread Dragon, as he is weak and doesn't have the best effect. Try to not to use No Special Summon monsters very much, since they'll slow you down. Koa'ki meiru Drago is bad when you can use Luster Dragon. No effect, same attrb, same ATK, no anti-effect, side deck Koaki at best. Also, make sure you're running Reasoning and Monster Gate, and 2-3 PMDs and White Night/Tyrant Dragons. Good Luck! --Drew-Gi-Oh! (talk) 01:53, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

Also, get rid of the Burst Breaths. They are usually detrimental to you, because of Dragons' low DEF and high ATK. You can replace them with Monster Gate and Reasoning. --Drew-Gi-Oh! (talk) 01:55, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

  • Well, if you choose to keep Genesis, at least take him down to 1. You really don't need 2 copies of him. IMHO, your emphasis should be on getting out REDMD, and once you do that, you really don't need Genesis. And I don't agree that Koa'ki Meiru Drago is BAD - he's actually great to have if you're up against Blackwings or Lightsworns. But if I'm up against X-Sabers or Glads, I find things work better if I keep my options open. Which means NOT having Koa'ki in the line up.
  • If you'd like other opinions/ideas, look at the Blue-Eyes Synchro by Tantara (a very talented deck builder) in this link: Decks for Free, Archive 5. This is full of great information. Just keep in mind that Foolish Burial is at only 1 now (at least for the time being).--Kungfu-mama(talk) 05:04, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

1/2 my ideas were based off of: http://www.konami.com/yugioh/blog/?p=1721 & the other 1/2 were based off one the same persons earlier deck lists using the 2 gen/L&D combo,

But! lets see what happens from what you say,

Changed some stuff based on advice, and some based on the decklist I listed,, And note: as it's a disaster build, it's more focused on control rather than beatdown, it just comes with beatdown as well, & I'll rep the Koa'ki if i can get some Blizzard Dragon, Thanks so far,-Resk-12:48, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

Been a while, got some cards, had a look at some new decklists (ty Runer) so!

Here's what I actually ran (Bet x-sabers, six-sams, lightsworns, 2x hopeless, and lost to blackwings, came 2nd out of.. 18-22~ in small but competitive tourn i took part in)

But due to the more recent 'top 32' list, i'm thinking of trying to add some stuff in from it, mainly a main-decked Royal Oppression, and maybe a Burst Breath, though i just can't bring myself to like Delta Flyer :3, so any more crits, also this will help me get ideas for helping the other dragon-ier, so i'll be watching both :p-Resk (talkcontribs) 21:35, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
