Forum:Divine Wrath + Cyber Dragon or The Tricky

My question is can you negate the effect of Cyber Dragon that special summon itself with Divine Wrath if he doesn't start a chain? And the same with The Tricky or other cards like that who I think start a chain?— This unsigned comment was made by 67.70.50.39 (talkcontribs)

As for Cyber Dragon, I'm pretty sure that you cannot Divine Wrath him since it's just a summon. I could be wrong though. As for The Tricky, I have no clue. There are NO rulings for The Tricky, which is weird. tSkullvarnish (talkcontribs) 21:18, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

divine wrath can only negate things which start a chain. Summon conditions don't start chains, also the tricky doesn't. The only thing which can special summon itself and start a chain that I know is Dark Simorgh. -dest- (talkcontribs) 22:35, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

the tricky's effect to special summon itself from the hand by paying the cost (discarding 1 card) would make more sense if it starts a chain if you look at the language of its text. the way "the tricky" is worded typically equates to - you can __(cost) to __(effect) although you are right about no rulings for this card.— This unsigned comment was made by 173.172.80.94 (talkcontribs)

The Tricky is a Summoning Condition as well. In basically 'one' action, they just discard the card and place him on the field. Only now can the opponent can then use cards to respond (e.g. Black Horn of Heaven, and in this case, Tricky is destroyed and the discarded card stays in the graveyard). hmm that may well be the case, but it still makes more sense to me that it would be a cost for its effect to summon itself.. also, as mentioned above, "dark simorgh"'s effect to summon itself does start a chain and can be chained to.

Dark Simorgh is just an exception to the rule. Don't compare him with other monsters. Both Cyber Dragon and The Tricky have Summoning Conditions. ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 22:00, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

OK, FAIR ENOUGH. SO, THE TRICKY'S SUMMONING CONDITION IS THAT YOU PAY THE COST (DISCARDING 1 CARD) and dark simorgh is just an exception to the rule. does anyone know why this is the case?
