Forum:Djinn releaser of rituals

if the ritual monster that i used "Djinn Releaser of Rituals" to ritual summon is removed from the field and later returned via "Interdimensional Transporter" etc.. or flipped face down and later flipped face up again, does the effect that prevents the opponent from special summoning still apply or is it reset? the way it reads sounds to me that as long as it is the same ritual monster, it would apply regardless but...

The effect of "Djinn Releaser of Rituals" is no longer applied. If a card is removed from the field, then when it returns to the field the card is considered to be a different card. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 04:08, December 31, 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. Also, I asked before about the same scenario but with "Jester Confit"'s effect and at the time it was an "unresolved issue". to your knowledge, has this changed?

  • Nope. It is still an "unresolved issue". Jester Confit's rulings do not mention this scenario. ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 19:51, December 31, 2009 (UTC)
Err, here's the previous thread, in case anyone else forgot.
I stand by my previous answer.

Well, to summarize the rulings, we have:
Rulings that say the Summoning memory will be reset:
1) Puppet King (OCG and TCG): "If “Puppet King” is Summoned by its own effect, and is then flipped face-down or leaves the field temporarily and returns, its effect resets. It is no longer considered Special Summoned by its own effect, and will not destroy itself during the End Phase."
2) Sky Scourge Invicil's OCG ruling:
Q: If this card is Tribute Summoned by tributing a Fairy-type monster, and then it is removed from play by Interdimensional Matter Transporter, when it returns to the field is the Continuous Effect applied?
A: It is lost.(07/04/07)
3) Ultimate Insect LV3's TCG ruling: "If this monster is Special Summoned by the effect of "Ultimate Insect LV3", but is then flipped face-down, or removed from play with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Dimensionhole", its effect is reset, so even if flipped face-up again, it will no longer decrease the ATK of the opponent's monsters."
Rulings that say the Summoning memory will not be reset:
1) Allure Queen LV5's TCG ruling: "If "Allure Queen LV5" is Special Summoned by the effect of "Allure Queen LV3", and is then temporarily removed from play with "Dimensionhole" or "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", after it returns to the field it can still use its first effect. The fact that it was Special Summoned by "Allure Queen LV3" is not reset."
2) Dark Lucius LV6's TCG ruling: "If "Dark Lucius LV6" negates an opponent's monster effect, but is then flipped face-down, you cannot Special Summon "Dark Lucius LV8". However, if "Dark Lucius LV6" negates a monster effect, and is then temporarily removed from play with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", when it returns to play you can Special Summon "Dark Lucius LV8"."
3) Sky Scourge Invicil's TCG ruling: "When "Sky Scourge Invicil" is returned to the field by "Dimensionhole", its effect is reapplied. It "remembers" that it was Tribute Summoned by Tributing a Fiend-Type monster. Removing it from play temporarily with "Dimensionhole" or "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" does not make it forget this. Since it "remembers" that it was Tribute Summoned, "Blast Held by a Tribute" could be used."
3 vs 3! But assuming that Lusius's and Allure's rulings were posted together, the can be counted as 1, so it maybe actually 3 vs 2.

Sigh, not again...
In the OCG, it is clear that "Jester Confit" will forget how it was Summoned. We're talking about the TCG.
Why are you using the rulings for "LV" monsters? They contradict themselves.
In total, we have one ruling on each side. This is NOT enough to make a generalisation either way. It is better to turn to the OCG, since there are no contradictions in the OCG.
