Wikia are putting together a Gaming Quiz Show in the coming weeks, details on applying to be a contestant for that will follow in the near future, but in the mean time, Wikia need writers!

Do you like playing video games? Can you tell New Eden apart from Azeroth? If so, Wikia need YOU. Simply follow the link, and if you fit the criteria, please feel free to apply to position of Quiz Question Writer!--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 23:32, January 24, 2013 (UTC)

Did this really need to be added to the main page? Without any discussion at all? It has nothing to do with YGO. At all. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:20, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Erm, well, YGO does qualify as gaming... *shrugs* --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:22, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Heh, look like he just entered his own "blonde minute"... I would let him unwinding that minute then destroying this article afterward once he realized that it's complete unrelated to this Wikia. --iFredCat 17:33, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
You could call it gaming. You could, but you wouldn't. When anyone hears the word "game", they think video game. When someone says "comic book", they think "superhero comic" even though Scott Pilgrim and other stuff exists. Same thing here. Yeah, YGO is gaming. No one thinks of it as that. It just looks out of place here. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:52, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
How much longer is this going to be on the main page? Because it's jarring and not really the sort of thing that deserves to be there. A forum topic would have sufficed. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 12:52, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
Since TTF has yet to respond, I've shrunk the text for now. I'm not sure I feel comfortable removing it entirely. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 13:03, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
I'd say remove it. January 30, 2013 has passed, so I assume they're no longer taking applications. I don't think we should put stuff like that on the Main Page in future, at least not without establishing that it's relevant first. And MediaWiki:Community-corner/Mediawiki:Sitenotice would probably have been more appropriate. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:40, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry for the lack of updates, it was a personal favour from a member of Wikia's staff. If you want, I'll run by future things like this by you guys, I just didn't think it would be an issue.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 19:36, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
The banner itself was less of an issue than the sheer size of it. It just looked far too advertisey. I understand that we want to be cooperative with people from Wikia. I just think this could have been done better. My apologies if I came off as rude. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 21:06, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
