If Guardian Angel Joan attacks and kills Doomcaliber Knight, does Doomcaliber Knights effect activate and kill Guardian Angel Joan? It's been ruled that Doomcaliber Knights effect can activate after damage calculation, so it can work on D.D. Warrior Lady, but "after damage calculation" may be different than "destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard". What would happen here? NecrofearNorleras (talkcontribs) 19:26, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

joan would still live since doom caliber would be dead before it effect would go off

If "Doomcaliber Knight" is destroyed by battle and an Effect Monster's effect activates after damage calculation ("D.D. Warrior Lady", etc.), "Doomcaliber Knight's" effect still activates. That is directly from the rulings page. This applies to Joan too. Joan's effect doesn't actually activate when Doomcaliber hits the Grave. It activates when Doomcaliber is DETERMINED to be destroyed by battle, which happens while he is still on the field. Yes, it is weird. Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 22:05, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

This card cannot be Special Summoned. When an Effect Monster's effect is activated, you must Tribute this card. Negate that effect's activation and destroy the monster. <= doomcaliber knights effect. so how can it tribute its self when its destroyed by battle??

See Breakdown of the Battle Phase. Doomcaliber is not sent to the grave when those effects activate and soit can still tribute itself to negate the effects. -dest- (talkcontribs) 22:38, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, it's like dest says, or at least as far as I know. lol dest, I was about to say something along the lines of what you said, but, you beat me to it! Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 22:43, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

"Guardian Angel Joan"'s effect activates at the end of the Damage Step, after the destroyed monster is sent to the Graveyard, similar to "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame". "Doomcaliber Knight" is not on the field at this time, so it can't activate its effect.
"D.D. Warrior Lady" is different, since her effect activates before the monsters are sent to the Graveyard. "Doomcaliber Knight" is still on the field at this time (even though it's destroyed), so its effect still activates. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 22:49, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, yeah, I just now read Joan and she does say the monster must be destroyed AND sent to the grave. My bad. Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 22:52, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
