Forum:Flip Flop Frog attacked Face-down

Okay my question is very simple. Say I have 2 Frogs face-up and a Flip Flop Frog face-down and the Flip Flop Frog is attacked. His ability activates. Do I get to bounce 2 monsters or 3 if Flip Flop Frog is destroyed by that battle? --LordGeovanni 20:21, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

It's not work, if Flip Flop Frog is attacked, his effect won't activate. It should be flipped SUMMON in order to activate it effect. If it was attack then activate, it should have "FLIP: ..." at start of it effect text, like Man-Eater Bug, Penguin Soldier, etc who have it. But Guardian Sphinx, Swarm of Locust and this card, does not work when it's been attacked and destroy in battle. Is that clearly, Lord? --FredCat100 20:27, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

"When this card is flipped face-up" is written on Flip Flop Frog. He is an oddity among the flip-down monsters. This card does have its effect activate when it is attacked, I am wondering if it is included in the amount of Frogs you control if he is destroyed in the same battle that flipped him up. --LordGeovanni 21:26, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Ugh... odd words this card has, so it count himself as well. Since effect activate before battle resolve, so you return number of monster equal to your Frogs plus this one. --FredCat100 21:49, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

I will still need someone else to say such. I would think because he cannot be targeted (See Penguin Soldier ruling) that he is no longer counted as being "On my field" and as such no longer "under my control". --LordGeovanni 22:09, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

It's because you tried to pick him as part of return effect. But I am referring to this frog's effect, you can bounce up to equal number of your opponent's monster that matched to your frog monsters plus this guy itself, if you have 5 Frogs with one face-down, then he attack the face-down and however blocked, you can bounce five monsters back to his hand easily. --FredCat100 22:19, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

i think it works... because it worked in the game. i made a frog deck (it sucks but fun) so yeah it works. i think

Flip Flop Frog's effect will activate and you will be able to bounce your opponent's monsters even though it is not flip summoned or has the "FLIP: ..." wording in its card text. All it needs is to be flipped face up because it is a Pseudo-Flip Effect.--Hide Head Turtle 07:28, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you Hide Head Turtle. However, you didn't answer my question. Can I bounce a monster for the Flip Flop Frog if he is flipped and destroyed by battle? --LordGeovanni 08:02, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, you can still bounce monsters up to the number of frogs face-up. Therefore, in your example where you have 2 frogs and a Flip Flop Frog face-down and it is attacked, you will be able to bounce up to 3 of your opponent's monsters.--Hide Head Turtle 08:08, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Even if he is destroyed? Can you think of any ruling that can help with this? --LordGeovanni 19:43, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Damage step substep 6: "If the Flip Effect of the flipped monster targets, you cannot select a target that has been destroyed during damage calculation. " meaning it is still able to target, but not itself, and it's still on the field till substep 7, so counts as a frog for this purpose-RESK-21:09, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
