I want to improve my Gladiator Beast deck strong enough to win agaisn't Blackwings Here's my deck, any suggestions?? thanks

Dealing with BWs, eh? Hmm...
  • Thunder King Rai-Oh is a card I've seen used in GBs. It can overpower Shura (barring Kalut) and your opponent can't use Black Whirlwind with it on the field.
  • Trap Hole can be sided in along with Bottomless Trap Hole - this will allow you to take down even more of their monsters to stop Black Whirlwind, Icarus, etc.
  • Dust Tornado takes out Whirlwind and allows you to have a trap - say Waboku or War Chariot - ready for when YOU attack. Not to mention taking out other traps of theirs.
  • Mirror Force might be useful - allows a tag-out and is a good option against a BW swarm.
I hope that was somewhat useful. Runer5h 01:07, April 20, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

I wasn't aware Mirror Force would allow a tag. I suppose it doesn't negate the attack... As for BW's I will honestly say glads will have a hard time, it's far easier for blackwings to mess with glads than vice versa but you can slow the blackwings down.

I'd add another warchariot. Blackwings thrive on their effects, if run three and honestly if I had to play against blackwings wouldn't feel as though I could draw into them fast enough. They can't Kalut, or abuse sorroco, or gale if you chariot them. It goes without saying Equeste is vital for ensuring you can continue the abuse of the chariot.

Also be prepared for Royal Oppression. Blackwings can get around it far more effectively than GBs can and trust me I've had blackwings make full use of that. Whirlwind isn't quite as scary as oppression. Sure the steady blackwing flow is messy but if they have oppression you can't very easily bestiari the thing and then contact for gyz to pop another two cards. That alone slows down whirlwind. From personal experience oppressions are the number one threat of BW's against GB's. If you can tag you can fight back still remember that. Save at least some tornadoes or an MST for any oppressions.

In terms of your general deckbuild... I've been told two proving grounds are excessive but I can't complain since I run two myself. They're handy and can force and instant Gyz. It's something to think about.

I'm kinda iffy on the 3 book of moons. For GB's in general shrink is more effective because you can destroy an opponent's monster (if used correctly when they attack a relatively strong monster) and you can tag out. More opportunity for abuse. On the other hand the book of moon can help you slow down the effects of the blackwings, it can interfere with kalut, and if they can't respond you can catch a tag on the facedown. For blackwings specifically I actually approve but I'd side in shrinks for less threatening decks.

Three glad beast respite? Why? I LOVE the draw power, but unfortunately I can't find much opportunity to send two glad beasts back to the deck from my hand and I only run one. Glad beasts just seem to spit out their monsters pretty quickly. I run one and I usually tend to use it as a desperation move if I have two horrendous monsters in my hand that won't help me, or perhaps if I really need to draw into something ugly. I honestly can't imagine how on earth I'd be able to use three of them. You might want to lower it to two or three and put in something else that gives you more control to help against the blackwings. Remember a good shrink can be a huge FU against a Kalut. In the right situation it could give you just enough to keep a big monster and save your bacon and that doesn't even make it situational as it can still be used on other occasions.

I'm not sure how effective COMP EVAC is considered against blackwings, I haven't tried it, but in GB theory they are more likely to interrupt combat and slow down your tagging. I won't go so far as to say they're bad, they'll mess up a stardust and save your skin when your opponent starts swarming with blackwings. My only other suggestion is to put in a retiari so that you can remove a Vayu and stop that from getting ugly. Hope this helps. Vampiremessiah51 02:56, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, and the number one side-deck choice against Blackwings: Consecrated Light. Remember that. Runer5h 03:01, April 22, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Neo-Spacian Grand Mole is too slow right now and doesn't help against Blackwings. Another Test Tiger would be better. Elemental Hero Prisma works really good with Darius and Test Tiger, so play at least one. The Horror'Speak if you dare 16:34, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for all your help I will change the Neo-Spacian Grand Mole for a Elemental Hero Prisma and 2 of Gladiator Beast's Respite by Mirror Force/Dark Bribe and another Gladiator Beast War Chariot. Thank you all^_^
