My little brother keeps using Draining Shield to negate the effect of Magic Cylinder and I just want to know if this is illegal, because every time I try and tell him, he argues with me about it. So, Can you negate Magic Cylinder with Draining shield? — This unsigned comment was made by Haos serpenoid 500 (talkcontribs) 10:17, April 29, 2011 (UTC)

So to answer your question, no, "Magic Cylinder" is not an attack, it's a counterattack and is not monster. The only trap that you can negate "Magic Cylinder" is a counter Trap Cards - Seven Tools of the Bandit, Solemn Judgment, etc. that can stop the trap in the track. Draining Shield only can stop Monster's attack. So tell your brother to stop believe anything that the television show is always right. Old Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monster Season 1 is a messy, you know? --FredCat 10:21, April 29, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah-Draining Shield would not be negating an attack so it wouldn't be valid.BobaFett2 (talk)

Basicly, Magic Cylinder causes effect/burn damage, not battle damage, & nor is it counted as an attack, thus Draining Shield cannot be used in response to it.-Resk™ (Talk) 17:30, April 29, 2011 (UTC)
