Forum:Japanese Card (No Effect)

I don't know where else this would go, so I put it here. If I was to get a Japanese Card, would I be able to use it? It's the Artwork, rather than the Card itself, it has no effect. You can't get this one in English either, so I can't go anywhere else.

In the US, you cannot use Japanese cards. The card above as the link indicates is Dark Magician, the only artwork the US has yet to receive. --MasterMarik (talkcontribs) 23:03, November 8, 2014 (UTC)

Well, I'm not in the US. --Pauldarklord (talkcontribs) 09:03, November 9, 2014 (UTC)

What they meant was you can't use cards from the OCG in the TCG. Hastydemon2 (talkcontribs) 12:21, November 10, 2014 (UTC)
So I'm confused. Can I use that card, or not? --Pauldarklord (talkcontribs) 17:08, November 29, 2014 (UTC)
It depends on where you are. You can check the card legality sections on the official site for the region you live in.
At the time of writing, for official tournaments in:
  • Japan - Yes - obviously
  • Korea - I don't think so, but wouldn't be surprised if you can. I think it says it here: http://www.yugioh.co.kr/card/board.php?board=duel&command=body&no=100
  • Other parts of Asia; Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand - Yes http://www.yugioh-card.com/hk/event/rules.php?lang=en
  • Everywhere outside of Asia is largely the same. You can use English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish cards only, provided the particular card has been mass released in that region. You need a translation, if it's not a major language in the region. You cannot use Japanese, Korean or Asian English, translation or not.
