Forum:Just some questions

im posting some questions i have to ask to better understand what you can and can't get away with. ok lets start with some questions on some things that have happenend that i've come across.

1st: let's say you want to use a card u want to use, but your thinking to your self, i can i use it if i can't do something in it's effect? well that's my question. normaly no, but sometime thats not the case for SOME reason. for example: can you use stardust effect if you 1. can't destroy the card useing the effect, (ex: it's already in the grave) and 2. if it's not on the field. the reason why i ask is that so far there is no card that destroys anything not on the field and youu cant destroy something already dead. if u can't use all of the effect, you can't use the effect at all. that's my understanding of any and all cards. for example, i have to use absolute zero's effect, which ONLY activates when he's no longer on the field. you try to use stardust, but wait! Absolute's no longer there. this means he's already off the field, and you can't destroy something not on the field. or can you? and also you can't destroy something already in the grave so you cant use stardust because you can't ignore the destroy effect he has. or can you? would'nt make any sence if you could.

2nd: if you had ally of justice catastor, and i attacked it, i know my monster dies before damage, but shouldn't your ally die as well? there's just no battle damage done, like a waboku, but it doesn't stop him from being sent to the grave does it? if it doesn't it's a very broken card.

thats it for now, ill post more questions as i play on.

a) You may wish to ask these in the Rulings forum.

b) Please sign your posts with ~~~~ as that creates a signature for you

Now,

1st)

1) Yes stardust can negate & destroy Elemental Hero Absolute Zero, and yes, you -can- destroy things not on the field :IE: Crush Card Virus & Chain Destruction.

2) Absolute Zero only activates when he -leaves the field- so if he's destroyed when not on the field, he doesn't get the effect again.

2nd) Ally of Justice Catastor Destroys before damage calculation. This means before your monster is able to connect with it. Meaning it doesn't get a chance to kill it. Meaning that Ally of Justice Catastor survives. Meaning you should get some non-battle related destruction <,<

Hope that helps!

i see what this guys asking with the 1st question. i also want to know, if you can not destroy something, i.e. it's already in the grave, and you can't use all of the effect because of this fact, you shouldn't be able to use it at all. like you said, for example, absolute's effect only happens after he leaves, so lets just say he went to the grave. he's already in the grave so you can't destroy him again and you can't choice just to ignore part of ANY card's effect. stardust says you negate AND than destroy, and because his effect went off in the grave, you can't chain because you can not destroy the card. -N8DaGr8 (talkcontribs) 3:04, december 23, 2010

As mentioned, Yes. You can destroy things in the grave.-Resk (talkcontribs) 00:07, December 24, 2010 (UTC)

what? that doesnt make any sence. you can't destroy something already in the grave. where would it be sent to? oh that's right, the grave. i agree with N8DaGr8, if it's already dead, you can't re-kill it. it's really that simple. i can understand maybe destroing something from the hand, deck, field, or the fusion deck, but if it's removed from the game or in the grave, you shouldn't be able to destroy it because it's already gone. the bomb already went off and there's nothing left there but the empty field. your only hope would be a card that just negates effects like skill drain or destruction itself, without destroying the source of the bomb. i don't really care if people think they could use something like starduust when a card activates in the grave. i'll tell them their wrong. -TheFlash1991 (talkcontribs) 11:28, december 23, 2010

You can't destroy things in the Graveyard. In that case, "Stardust Dragon" will negate the effect, but won't destroy it.
In general, if a card negates the activation of something and destroys it, then destroying it is just a bonus. The effect is still considered to resolve properly, even if you can't destroy it. It's one of those rulings that's been around forever, so no one thinks too much about it. --Deus Ex Machina 08:31, December 24, 2010 (UTC)

I want to know if can I use the effect of Magic reflector to prolong the sword of revealing light effect?— This unsigned comment was made by 201.8.85.154 (talkcontribs)
