Ok so at locals i was playing against a quickdraw deck and he pulls out light and darkness dragon. I activate spells until his attack is 1300 then i hit him with a 1700 attack monster. but instead of him dying he uses book of moon on him and says he chained it to him being destroyed??? i was just like WTF!! and i dueled on and lost. :( Was that a legal move and why? - Rparamo951

He can't do that.
You can't use Book in the Damage Step, after LaDD is destroyed.
or, if you use Book before then, Book will be Negated by LaDD. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 06:03, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Just because he made a mistake doesn't make him any of those things. It could be a genuine mistake, or he could of heard it from or have had the same play used against him. Drew-Gi-Oh! (talkcontribs) 16:50, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm.... This depends on WHEN he activated "Book of Moon".... If he activated it when you attacked his LADD, if you had nothing to Chain to that, then your 1700 ATK monster would have run into its 2400 DEF (this is because whenever LADD is removed from the field or flipped face-down, its ATK and DEF revert to their original values; the same as it is for any other monster whose ATK/DEF is modified), flipping it face-up with its original ATK/DEF restored. However, like the above users have said, you cannot activate Spell/Trap/Effect Monster effects during the Damage Step, unless it specifically says so OR it modifies ATK and DEF values (neither of which Book of Moon can accomplish). --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:11, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Rparamo951 said he activated Spell cards to drop Raida's ATK to 1300. I suppose he played 3 Spell cards, then. By that time, Raida had at least 900 DEF so the activation of Book of Moon was illegal (activated during Damage Step) or it would have been negated (by Raida's effect).--151.51.128.134 (talk) 20:08, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Oh yeah... So the opponent's Book of Moon would have been negated by LADD. The only other way the guy could have gotten around it was by activating a different Spell/Trap/Effect Monster's effect, chaining LADD's effect to that, and chaining Book of Moon to LADD's effect. Basically, the opponent's LADD should have been destroyed by the attack. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 21:06, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Ya, you should have said something because it was that dude's fault, he can't activate book of moon at the damage step anyway, even if he did LADD would have negated it, dropping it's attack. LADD effect is a MANDATORY effect. In a real tournament if tried to pull a stunt like that he would have gotten a game loss. Take the advice of the people above, knowing the rulings, the basics at least will prevent you from not knowing. Knowledge is power! There's nothing disturbing about truth sir. Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 17:22, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Rparamo95, does your local have a "designated" judge of somesort or does it have an official registered Konami judge? It's these kind of people that are the hardest to convince when faced with techical yugioh rules.

My WTF ruling moment happened at a "tourment" at my local library: I play Lightning Vortex on my opponent's Thought Ruler Archfiend and my opponent uses Thought Ruler's effect. This isn't possible becasue Lightning Vortex doesn't target, so I tell him illegal move. My opponent claimes that Thought Ruler is the only monster on his side of the feild, therefore my Lightning Vortex does target his Thought Ruler becasue it's the only monster making it the only target. I get the "designated" judge for this, and the judge goes with my opponent's logic; saying there is only one target on my opponent's side of the field for Lightning Vortex to target, therefore my opponents gets to activate his Thought Ruler's effect. WTF!! I lost the match becasue of that ruling. --184.96.225.138 (talk) 03:21, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

Well, that judge shouldn't be a judge. Lightning Vortex NEVAR targets! Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 03:30, August 9, 2010 (UTC)
