Forum:Mirror Force Dragon Deck

Hello guys! My name is Shawn, and I am very new to this community. I've probably been using this website as a reference for about 2 or so month now, and I thought I might as well join. I also spent about a month or two saving up money for this deck, and I'm glad that I made it. Each card in this deck plays a purpose to me, so it's hard to get a dead draw. Considering the second I seen Mirror Force Dragon(MFD), I thought it was pretty powerful, and decided to make a deck that follows the Advanced Format Tournament Ban List. First off, in order to get the cards I need to win the game, I must stall a little bit. I do this by using cards that cannot be destroyed by battle. During the first part of the game, I will start laying down monsters in defensive position to try to create a defense shield. As I wait it out, I may pull out some Bull Bladers. From there, I use them to kill off any monsters that I may see as a threat(as the strongest monster in my deck only has 3000 ATK Points) Then after a while, I'll start to lay things like Mystical Space Typhoon(MST) on the field, and considering it has a spell speed of 2, it might be a viable counter. I'd typically use these to counter anything that tries to stop the summoning of my Tyrant Burst Dragon(TBD). or MFD. I might also use them to counter a card I might consider a huge threat to my game. After I get Fang of Critias and three MSTs, I'll bring out MFD and TBD, using MST to keep them alive. Then, I'd play something like Savage Colosseum, to force my opponents to either attack me or stay in defense mode. If they decide to go on the offensive, I'll lay a Negate Attack face down, and if they attack me, I'll activate it, MFD's effect will activate, then everything on their field should die. Then, I'd using the remaining MSTs or a Dust Tornado to wipe out anything else they decide to lay down. After that, I will equip TBD to MFD, attack them three times, and end their game. If they go on the defensive, I'll simply use Big Ban Shot to inflict penetrative damage. I may also use Tyrant Wing to try to cause MFD to attack multiple times if TBD isn't on the field. This deck, like any other, has its own weaknesses along with its strengths. First off, if someone uses a card to do penetrative damage when mine are in defense mode, then considering my weak monsters have low defense they'll be doing loads to my life points. Also, the Summoning of my MFD and TBD can easily be negated, and I really can't deal a lot of life point damage due to the low attack strength my monsters generally have. Something like Deck Epidemic Virus could easily crush my game. Compulsory Evacuation Device could return a fusion monster to my hand, making it unplayable. I also included Doom Caliber Knights and a White Knight Dragon to either protect my MFD, TBD or other cards from that of card effects or spells and trap. The defensive position monster can also be used as Tribute Fodder to bring out White Knight Dragon, which also has a decent amount of attack points, and so as well do the Doom Caliber Knights. Alright guys, I know reading this wall of text might've bored you all, but I have a lot to say at times. Also guys, please give me some suggestions as to how to improve this deck but with keeping the same functioning or improving it. Leave some suggestions below please, and tell me what you think of this overall and how it might do in tournaments. Also, refrain from using the names of other decks, as I'm a little newer to the dueling scene(even though I watched YuGiOh all the time as a child and still do) because I wont exactly recognize them. Thank you for reading, and have a good day! Reclaimer Shawn (talkcontribs) 03:39, September 12, 2015 (UTC)Reclaimer Shawn

Dude...Paragraphs are your friend. it makes reading a LOT easier.
Ok now lets see what we got here....
Wow that is ...uhh, obsolete to say the least. Sorry to say this but more or less everything in that deck would need to go if you want to make this good, and "good" would be rather subjective here. Immunity to battle destruction really doesn't mean much anymore and you are better off using cards like Threatening Roar to fend off attacks.
Doomcalibur knight ESPECIALLY should not be there as his effect is mandatory, you basically can't have it on the field with MFD or they will just set off MFD's effect, which would set off Doomcalibur who would then kill your dragon for them.
This thing would get ripped apart in any tournament. decks that revolve around a single monster just don't work well unless that monster can end the game on the turn its summoned or shortly after.
So don't get your hopes up of this thing being good. I'm normally all for making impractical things work but honestly I don't think it would be worth the effort.
But if you are hellbent on making this work (I would be for some of my crazier stuff), I can recommend a few things
Kuribandit, Mills cards, speeding up the deck and allowing you to fetch one of the spells/traps you milled, like Mirror force or Critias.
Battle Mania. Savage Colosseum forces you to attack, which may be a very bad thing.
All-Out Attacks, see above. EVERYTHING that matters special summons, so everything WILL be forced to run into this.
And the Band Played On, will help keep a few annoying ass monsters from ruining your day.
While I said literally everything in that deck should be replaced, this isn't exactly something that can be mixed in easily. a rank 4 engine perhaps, but then it would end up as a R4NK deck ft Mirror Force Dragon.
Thus I'd recommend more cards that take advantage of the above cards that force battle. Force your opponent to battle and then punish them for it.

I must have not read Doomcaliber Knight's effects completely, so thank you for making me aware of that. However, that's probably something that I'd want to use to at the beginning of the game, or two counter things early on as opposed to having it up with MFD. Secondly, with Savage Colosseum, I'd probably keep my monsters in defensive position until their field was empty, and if I already had MFD equipped with Big Bang, it wouldn't matter as I'd probably only think about summoning MFD if I had cards to negate attack, wipe their field clean, or at least give me a damage boost of some kind. The Shallow Grave is a very risky card to play, and I really couldn't fin anything else that would give me a revival without it either being banned or requiring me to do something that might cost me the entire game(and this might cost me as well, but possibly less so.) I'm not exactly an expert, and in fact probably know little compared to others in this community. So, if we remove some of the above factors from play, why would I get crushed and what competition would I have to go up against? I don't expect to have to play in the big-leagues, and would probably only play in a more localized area anyways. Maybe I would try lower levels, like a regional tournament or state one. I wasn't expecting to be able to be everyone and anyone, but just wanted to make something halfway decent. The strategies I make usually involving a beginning defensive push, with a bit of stalling on the side. Then, when I get what I need, I'd flip over to a full offensive and try to take the game. Have any cards to go on this type of play style? Thanks by the way. Reclaimer Shawn (talkcontribs) 04:13, September 12, 2015 (UTC)Reclaimer Shawn
