Forum:Scrap-Iron Illidan Deck

Worm Illidan has the potential to be a very powerful card; you get to destroy a monster for every two cards you set. Clearly this could make a powerful control deck, right? Well... unfortunately, the support doesn't yet exist in reality. So, I'll delve a bit into the 5Ds anime, with the Scrap-Iron cards used by Yusei and Tetsuzo Kuzuyama.

And there you have it - a very interesting deck made possible only by the fact that I'm not actually using real cards.

First off, there's the monsters. Illidan is the king here, and it's Illidan I aim to bring out as soon as possible because of the card advantage it generates. Xex is a LIGHT beatstick that automatically mills a Worm to the graveyard. This can be useful in a couple of ways; if I have Call of the Haunted I will mill Illidan to revive later. I can mill a random Worm to remove to activate the effect of the powerful Worm Tentacles - it can double attack by removing a Worm from my graveyard. Or I can mill Worm Yagan as a good starting move, because Yagan will special summon itself face-down if it gets milled like that. Thunder King Rai-Oh's high ATK and controlling effects make it very important in a deck such as this. Finally, Honest is just a great card in this deck; with so many LIGHT beatsticks it truly shines (so to speak). It helps to keep a monster on the field so I can tribute it for Illidan.

The deck does not have very many spells at all. Giant Trunade allows me to make big plays; I can use it to clear out both spell/trap zones, and then I can reset my cards and use Illidan to wipe my opponent's field of monsters. MST is standard removal. Upstart Goblin allows me to get to key cards more reliably. Finally, Book of Moon is just a very good card; I can use it to stop Stardust Dragon from wrecking my plans.

For the traps, I have a total of 8 Scrap-Iron Cards. Scarecrow stops an attack a turn (very annoying, let me tell you). Barricade protects a monster from card effects for a turn, preempting cards like Judgment Dragon or Dark Armed Dragon. It can be used any time, too, so it's one counter a turn for Illidan. Finally, Trap Hole is just amazing. Once per turn, I negate a special summon, and bounce the monster? Sweet! This is great against synchro summons.

I also have 2 Dark Bribe and 2 Divine Wrath, for negations. Bottomless is just a good card for the deck. Offering to the Snake Deity is useful because of my high Reptile count. Finally, Call of the Haunted is the standard revival card.

Tell me what you think of this concept deck. Runer5h 23:29, November 30, 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

I love the idea, and I think it could end up very deadly for the opponent if they get locked down by this. I would take out the Upstart Goblins though, and maybe add in Burden of the Mighty, and go with 3 Book of Moon, even though it doesn't trigger Illidan. --Black Rose 01:15, December 1, 2009 (UTC)

I think I'll keep the Upstarts. Honestly, I'm much more worried about not getting to key cards than I am about battle. Runer5h 21:41, December 2, 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

I know you have no need for LP gain, but what about Emergency Provisions, to get rid of spare Scrap-Iron cards? Or something else to clear your own S/T Zones, in case they get clogged up?--Black Rose 22:43, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
