Forum:Suggestions on how to make a sucessful Invader of Darkness Deck

From Yugipedia

Hey, everyone. It's like this: my favorite card is the Invader of Darkness, and I want to make a Deck around him, but what cards should I use except him? I don't know about any particular support cards, except for Double Coston and Royal Decree, so any suggestions would be appreciated. Ciao,

Bit of an odd choice, but meh.

  • Start with Cost Down, reducing the number of Tributes needing to summon him to 1.
  • Foolish Burial coupled with a revival card (e.g. Monster Reborn) is a simple, but effective combo.
  • Soul Exchange is good, but it prevents you from attacking.
  • Using a few Gilasaurus cards could also work, but your opponent does benefit. Unless of course you see below.
  • Once he is on the feld you could couple him with a card such as Vanity's Ruler to lock down the opponent further.
  • Then just staple cards.

Hope that helps KazilDarkeye 20:11, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the great tips, I think I'll try that. And yeah, I know it's an odd choice, but I also wanted to make something original, and besides, it's my favorite card, so I thought I had to try.
Well then, anyone else having other suggestions?

Baccus78 21:01, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Just want to add the best combo (although its situational).

  • Activate Cost Down, discarding Vanity's Ruler
  • Activate Monster Reborn to revive Vanity's Ruler
  • Special Summon Gilasaurus
  • Sacrifice Gilasaurus and summon Invader of Darkness.

KazilDarkeye 21:08, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, and if you add Royal Decree, the opponent could be seriously locked down (no quick-spells, no special summons, no traps). Of course, there's still normal spells and monster effects. Do you think I could use Royal Command and/or Imperial Order?

Baccus78 21:12, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Trade-In discard him for draw power and use Doom Shaman to revive him and to counter monster effects use Dark Ruler Ha Des there both Fiends so he will get Dark Ruler Ha Des's effect PS you can't special summon Vanity's Ruler or Vanity's Fiend216.101.109.210 15:48, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

  • In that case you can use Mausoleum of the Emperor along with Ultimate Offering and Cost Down to lock down the opponent.
    • Activate Cost Down
    • Activate Mausoleum of the Emperor
    • Activate Ultimate Offering
    • Pay 1000 LP to summon Vanity's Ruler without Tribute
    • Special Summon Gilasaurus
    • Pay 500 LP and Tribute Gilasaurus to summon Invader of Darkness.

And maybe you could even ad a few giant germ's, nimble mononga and nimble musasabi Romanovajax 16:39, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for all your great tips, I truly appreciate them, unfortunately, I just found out that I don't have either Vanity's Ruler, Cost Down, Doom Shaman, Giant Germ, Nimble Momonga, or Dark Ruler Ha Des. However, if I ever get my hands on those cards, I'll add them to the deck immediately.
I do, however have Mausoleum of the Emperor, Trade-In, Ultimate Offering and Gilasaurus. So I guess I'll have to do what I can with the cards I have at my disposal.

Result

All right, this is what I've been able to do with the cards I currently have:

Monsters (23)

Spell Cards (19)

Trap Cards (9)

However, I still have a problem; there are 51 cards in this deck, and I like to keep my decks as close to 40 as possible. So, does anyone have suggestions on what to remove? Ciao,

Baccus78 10:19, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

  • I have NO idea why Magestic Mech - Goryu is in there, so that's a start.
  • Without that Kaiser Sea Horse can go.
  • Double Attack isn't that great.
  • Ectoplasmer just robs you of needed Tributes and has a possibility of killing your favourite monster for almost nothing.
  • Without Ectoplasmer, you can get rid of Malice Doll of Demise.
  • Bark of Dark Ruler is pretty bad.
  • This isn't a burn Deck, so Just Desserts has no place.
  • Equip cards aren't really needed. Avoid Black Pendant and Axe of Despair.
  • You could add Terraforming to search for the Mausoleum.
  • I'll add more later. KazilDarkeye 14:50, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Spirit barrier isnt that great either

Romanovajax 15:52, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

You never said if you were using advanced or traditional, but Witch of the Black Forest is banned so I'd remove that card. If I were you I'd either focus on one of three aspects of Inavder for your deck: Dark, Fiend, or Lock-Down. Pick which aspect you like most and build your stradegy from there.

Hmm, I don't think lockdown will work, cause even if I add Royal Decree, the opponent will have access to most magic cards and monster effects. So, I think I'll stick to DARK-attribute/Swarming strategy (overwhelming the opponent with powerful monsters). Thanks for the tips, I think my cards will make more sense now, I'll make the changes immediately. Ciao,

Baccus78 16:53, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

BTW, I'm playing advanced, so I'll take out Witch of the Black Forest as well. PS, do you know about any DARK monster with atk between 2500 and 2800 that would suit this deck well, preferably with a good effect?

YEAH, get a DMoC. Awesome card, it's in my deck.

Exodia13 21:35, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I love Dark so I know plenty: Dark Ruler Ha Des (2450, but if your playing dark, you'll have lots of fiends to assist with this card) Summond Sjull is always splashable Dark Raviel, Lord of Phantasms (4000), is your playing Dark Fiend, he is the power house Barrel Dragon (2600) and I have more but I got to run so I'll post it later.Slinky O 21:38, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't have DMoC either (man, there's a whole lotta awesome cards I don't have when I think of it), neither Dark Ruler or Raviel. I do already have Summoned Skull though.

Baccus78 21:56, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Maybe you could work in a Jinzo or two to lock down their traps. Invader takes care of their quick-play magics.

If you want, you could put in an Amplifier to equip to Jinzo to save your traps. Then your opponent will be quakin' in their boots. LOL.

Raviel is pretty cheap on eBay. DMoC will run you up a decent dollar but he is worth it. Don't just go and spend it though try to get one another way first. Ha Des is cheap also on eBay. Here:

Exodia13 22:04, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

I just don't like Raviel, actually (don't know why, he's just not that cool), and I don't want to chance with DMoC. However, I like the prize for Dark Ruler, so as long as my parents approve, I'll get him. Just a question, will it cost more if the buyer is from sweden? (that's right, I'm from sweden, which also may explain why my english isn't perfect).

Baccus78 22:14, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

uh, not sure. you'd have to ask the seller. But I agree with you on Raviel I never liked him either.

Exodia13 22:24, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Whats up with the Raviel hate? Just a Fire of Doomsday and a fiend away from chaos.Slinky O 02:35, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't hate the card, just I don't like it, or I wouldn't play it in a deck of mine. I didn't like Hamon either. I liked Uria though.

Alright, it doesn't really matter. Some more Dark Cards!!! Despair from the Dark (2800) Berserker Dragon (3500) Dark Master Zorc (if you want to do rituals, 2700) Ultimate Obidient Fiend (3500) Beast of Talwar (2400) Dark Rainbow Dragon (4000) Dark horus (3000) Dark Nephthys (2400) Belial-Marquis of Darkness (2800) Dark Genral Freed (2300)

I already have Despair from the Dark in the deck. I do have Ultimate Obedient Fiend, but I don't think I want him, it's too complicated to make him useable. I don't have the other ones mentioned though. Ciao,

Baccus78 21:36, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

I strongly Suggest Dark General Freed if your going for a Dark Swarm deck. He can negate Spells that target Darks and bring you a lvl 4 or lower Dark monster instead of your normal draw. I'm considering him for my Yubel deck with Mystic Tomatos, Armageddon Knights, and Dark Grephers.Slinky O 02:45, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I recently tried to buy Dark Ruler on eBay, but apparently it only works for people that live in Canada or USA, so I couldn't buy it, and the prices on other websites I found were ridiculous (on one site the card cost just as much as an entire Structure Deck!). I may buy it sooner or later anyway, but until then, I think I'll lay low with the deck. I'm planning on an Armed Dragon (I have all the forms except for LV7 and Dark Armed Dragon) or Light Deck, which one of these do you suggest?
I am, however, using this deck on Gameking, and it works pretty well so far. Thanks for all your help.

Baccus78 16:00, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, you need some coin in order to get the cards you really want. I spent some cash in my short time back in the game. I forked over $20 for a Card Trooper, $20 for one card! (then again online it was listed for $40 plus so it wan't that bad). So just wait it out and collect some cash to get waht you really want instead of settling on something you don't want. But whatever, best of luck trying to finish this deck!Slinky O 20:13, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
