I also dont understand why we cant have a yugioh card on yugioh.wikia.--Airbellum 07:30, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Because the images you were using, like the vast majority of images on this site, are copyrighted. In the context of articles, we can use them under the fair use. Fair use lets us use copyrighted material, without permission from the owner. It limits us in how we can use such material however. Illustrating articles on the subject of the image counts as fair use. Using them for yourself doesn't. (You can see the Wikipedia link for specific details.)
And it's not ony your page that's been changed because of this. Loads of other user pages have had non-free images removed from them. If there are any that haven't had them removed, they should. -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:52, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
  • For the admins ok, scratch that. I'll remove them then.
  • This should be a list of the remaining userpages with Card Images from this site. (Strike Through means that Fair Use images should be removed or disabled with "pre" tags)

Are pack and box images such as User:Look234/Set_Card_Galleries and User:CapableTurtle allowed?
Are anime screenshots such as User:Zeraph776 allowed?
Are game screenshots such as User:Sham00005 allowed?
Are cropped card images hosted on from an external source such as User:SpikeTrigger and User:Eugene273 allowed? -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 12:56, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
If the image is copyrighted, it's fair-use, and cannot be used in userspace. That goes for card, character, booster pack, anime, manga, game, etc. images. Note two things, though: users are allowed to link to images arbitrarily from their user and user talk pages, and user talk pages also cannot have these images on them.
Also, what's the deal with The Light Monarch 521, The Thunder Monarch 251, The Frost Monarch 215, The Storm Monarch 512, and The Shadow Monarch 125? Those all look to be accounts created by the same person (especially given how they edited each other's pages). At any rate, for the first four I just listed specifically, I'm inclined to simply blank their userpages, since they never made any meaningful contributions here, and haven't edited at all since December 2008 (shortly after they registered). ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 16:34, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
Also why does Wikia allow arbitrary images to be inserted, regardless of their origin, instead of being limited to images uploaded to the wiki and linked with proper syntax? That just seems to invite all sorts of abuse... ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 16:36, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
You want to hit the User talk pages as well? Here's the list of them.
User talk:Sbaldasari
User talk:Mamo 1611
User talk:Raiburuto
User talk:Deltaneos/Archive_16#Card Galleries!
User talk:Deltaneos/Archive_19#Set Galleries
User talk:Deltaneos/Archive_21#Korean backing
User talk:Obelisk89
Wikia doesn't allow images from any origin, it only allows the ones on the External image whitelist.
I just noticed that this is an old topic that was bumped by the forum category split... -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 11:39, August 1, 2010 (UTC)

On another note, are the stars, attributes, etc. allowed? (e.g. User:Andersmusician).-Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 11:39, August 1, 2010 (UTC)

The svg Attribute icons are fine. They're "Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License". So they can be used anywhere and their only restriction is that recognition is given to the artist, which is done on their file pages. The current Level Star images however are still fair use. -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:11, August 1, 2010 (UTC)
There are quite a few pages with Stars because some people have made up cards on their userpage. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 04:31, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

I've removed those images off most of them. I'm not too sure if I should remove them for the others (the ones that aren't crossed out).
I'll assume images such as User:Blue-Eyes White Kid and User:Speed Warrior are allowed. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 04:31, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Note that you can disable image insertion without actually removing the image code or surrounding it with <pre/> - simply insert a colon (:) before the "Image:" or "File:" portion, e.g. change [[File:Filename.jpg]] to [[:File:Filename.jpg]]. To answer a previous question which I overlooked, just because an image isn't hosted here doesn't mean it stops being fair-use, and cropped card images are still just as fair-use as the whole card. I think the images on BEWK and SW's pages are probably fine. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 07:44, August 2, 2010 (UTC)
yea, I used pre and delete depending on the rest of the content on the page, and if it could be changed to a link and made into a list, I did that too. Didn't really want to use the : method because it would have made it harder to make the list next time. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 07:54, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Hm.... what to do with pages like these: User:TheNewEditor? -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 12:23, February 6, 2011 (UTC)

In that case, the editor was recently active, so it'd probably be best to leave a message on their talk page explaining that such images cannot be used in userspace and asking them to remove the images themselves. If they don't respond or comply after about a week or so, you could then go ahead and remove the images yourself. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:56, February 6, 2011 (UTC)
