Ninja[edit]

can we add a ninja deck? Idiot's page Future ruler of the world's talk 09:39, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

Ninja's are an actual archetype eh. I mean support for them is barely precedint and Armored Ninja will be joining them soon enough but regardless not totally "needed", now if you mean adding cards like Blind Spot Strike and Ansatsu then that's debateable. (Yes, I see this is really old to what I'm responding too, just letting people not in the know...know.) 1:40, October 15, 2011

spider theme?[edit]

could we not extend the spider theme to spiders and scorpions? there are several scorpion cards out there and while I dont have the time or energy to do it, maybe we should expand this theme a little with a couple of other insects. I remember playing a billy deck with Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth; maybe include a moth theme also? --Its the EndOfTheWorld! Mwuhahahaha! 10:23, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

X__X[edit]

Is the bondage theme really appropriate? Megadeth9887 (talkcontribs) 23:20, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Sharks[edit]

Ryoga uses sharks so I think sharks shoud be added to. --Omojuze (talkcontribs) 12:57, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

Cartoons[edit]

Can somebody create a cartoon theme please. --Omojuze (talkcontribs) 15:57, October 15, 2011 (UTC)

Lists[edit]

The first two paragraphs of this article detail what a "Billy Deck" is and gives a bit of information about it. And that's fine. The rest of the article is a lot of lists. Is there anything that justifies what gets a list? It seems to be pick any word or theme and find a bunch of cards that fit that theme, but that's virtually limitless. -- Deltaneos (talk) 11:57, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

Page name[edit]

The name "Billy Deck" seems to have been a term invented by the original author of this page. The card game started some time in 1999. This page was created 4 July 2007. I can't find any webpages from that timeframe which use the term. The page should probably have been renamed back when it was created or does anyone know if this term was popularly used before then? The name seems to have caught on since, although I'm not sure. Should the page be renamed now or left as is? -- Deltaneos (talk) 12:07, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

---

There used to be a paragraph referencing a player who went to a championship whose name was Billy that used a deck based purely on theme and not strategy. I don't know who edited it out but it used to be there justifying the name of "Billy Deck".

Edit: Upon a little research, it was a player by the name of Billy Ye. "The term Billy Deck is named after player Billy Ye who is the first player to use this kind of deck in official tournament." That used to be on this page but no longer is. 24.34.79.89 (talk) 17:56, March 8, 2013 (UTC)

It was me who removed that. It seemed most likely to have been a hoax. If I'm wrong, I apologise and please correct me.
Anyway, the first mention of it being named after a player was added by someone who vandalised various other pages. The name "Billy Ye" was later added to that sentence by an IP with only one edit to date. An edit from a third IP changed it from a CnG player to "the first player to use this kind of deck in [an] official tournament". No sources were given in any of those edits. Any mention of "Billy Ye" or even "Billy Deck" on other sites seems to stem from this page.
It also seems very unlikely that one person could be widely regarded as the first person to use this kind of Deck in an official tournament. Decks not geared at being competitive are just as old as the game itself, and Decks geared at being at being thematic aren't much younger. I doubt that the first time such a Deck was used in an official tournament, it was used by just one person. But if it was, I'm sure such a claim would be disputed, especially in the absence of online sources. I can't imagine players universally agreeing that this person pioneered the Deck. If they did, I'd expect people would have mentioned in far more sites that don't point back to this one. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:37, March 8, 2013 (UTC)

Pokémon similar[edit]

Though I know he's not look like Skarmory, but I just notice the resemble of "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" has many resemble to Skarmory... beside being flying and dragon-looks. I meant, they have wyvern-style body, dragon head, something that involved metals (Metal in name, Steel is Skarmory's type), etc. --iFredCat 13:48, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

Deletion[edit]

The page shouldn't be deleted, since this technically is a type of Deck, but the list of cards should be removed. 190.124.165.194 (talk) 02:38, May 24, 2013 (UTC)

They are heavily resembled to that theme, so they can't be removed. --iFredCat 02:45, May 24, 2013 (UTC)
My first thoughts upon seeing this article: "OH DEAR THINGS-WHICH-SOME-PEOPLE-BELIEVE-IN-AND-OTHERS-DON'T-OF-ALL-LEVELS WHY DOES THIS EXIST!", in all seriousness though could we at ;east put each example deck into a box etc... If not remove all but the minimum examples.. If examples are even needed. Do we even need an article for describing non competitive decks just for fun? I think it is almost offensive having something like this XD -- Sardeth42 (talkcontribs) 08:17, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

Personally, I think this comes handy when one wants to look for "__ themed" cards with or without an archetype (eg. non Djinn music-related Monsters)... which is how I stumbled across this article. --AzureKesil (talkcontribs) 06:13, July 11, 2013 (UTC)

Okay, that is a fair point. I can't deny that the page has its uses, but it doesn't shy away from obscurity. Some people will want to make music-themed Decks, but other people may want to make cardboard, leaf, the year 2008, Batman or sushi Decks. Some of the existing themes, such as eel and Minecraft might be useful to a small number of readers, but are they notable? We could have pages indexing fanfiction and fanart. They would be useful, but not every fanfiction is notable.
Another suggestion could be to move the list to the forum. I'm not sure how keen people would be on going there, instead of here though. -- Deltaneos (talk) 11:06, July 11, 2013 (UTC)
I don't have a problem with trying to index everything as long as there are people willing to do it (heck, I was about to create a Final Fantasy list myself), but rather the name of this article. Something like "List of cards by theme" would be okay. I don't see any fanfiction here, unless you try to stretch similarities between cards and what's being referenced. Still, it could always be reduced to keywords like "videogame characters/gaming", which is more or less what we already have. --AzureKesil (talkcontribs) 21:42, July 11, 2013 (UTC)
Moving this to the forum is the logical choice. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 21:49, July 11, 2013 (UTC)
