Official in-game rationales[edit]

  • "Woodland Sprite"
    • "This card has created many situations where the Duel would become too one-sided through large amounts of Effect Damage. Thus, it will be limited in order to preserve a stable metagame." [sic]

Trivia[edit]

  • This Forbidden/Limited List was initially hinted at in-game on January 5, 2018 01:40 (EST), when a Notification was published acknowledging that a lot of feedback was being received concerning Duels against a Deck that used "Woodland Sprite", and that a Forbidden/Limited List update was possible for the sake of maintaining game balance and in consideration of the upcoming KC Cup at the time.
    • When the contents of this list were officially announced in-game through a Notification, the same Notification also acknowledged the presence of Decks that used similar tactics without "Woodland Sprite", and stated that the statuses of "Golden Bamboo Sword" and "Cursed Bamboo Sword" were being considered in order to prevent one-sided Duels. Ultimately, those considerations led to the creation of the February 2018 Forbidden/Limited List.
  • This Forbidden/Limited List marks the first time that a new Forbidden/Limited List in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links was published less than a month after the previous one.
