May 2002

The May 2002 Forbidden and Limited List was the first Forbidden and Limited list to go into effect in the TCG, on May 7, 2002.[1] This list covered the Booster Pack Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon and Starter Decks Yugi and Kaiba, and was followed by the July 2002 Forbidden and Limited List.

In total this list contained 12 cards: 5 Monster Cards, 7 Magic Cards, 0 Trap Cards

Prior to this list, the official rulebook listed the five Limited Magic Cards as Forbidden, but allowed the lists to be customized for specific events at Official Tournaments.

Note that until the release of Magician's Force Spell Cards were called Magic Cards in the TCG.
