All [[Xyz Monster]]s, with special exceptions like the "[[Number]]s", are Xyz Summoned through a red, spiraling portal. The [[Xyz Material]]s then become orbs of light which orbit the Xyz Monster. When [[detach]]ed by the [[player]], the orbs are absorbed by the Xyz Monster in its own specific way.
When a "Number" [[Monster Card|monster]] is Xyz Summoned, a space-themed portal appears into which the Xyz Materials are drawn into as energy streaks. The portal explodes, and the sealed form of the [[Summon]]ed "Number" appears, before transforming itself into its true form. However, some "Number" monsters, such as "[[Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo]]" and "[[Number 33: Chronomaly Machu Mech]]" do not have sealed forms; in their case, they simply emerge from the Overlay Network. Also, [[Number 9: Dyson Sphere]] does not emerge from the Overlay Network, but materializes in space.
